NSV Clearing the closet

Today I was about to vacuum when I looked in my closet. It is overstuffed with clothes of various sizes. Most now too big. In the past when I lost some weight I hung on to big clothes...just in case. This time I am ruthlessly weeding out all these clothes. I take special pleasure in getting rid of things I bought in desperation to hide my body for special "occasions". Now and then I tried on a jacket that wraps around me 1.5 Times. Or pants that I can slip on w/ o unzipping. I don't know what exactly is different this time than all the others. I just know it feels fabulous to bag up this baggage. Looking forward to the next clean out!

This is fantastic! Congratulations! You should get rid of all those too big clothes. I did the same thing .... either donated it or had it tailored.

Thanks for celebrating with me. It really brought it home to me how much my body changed with weight loss plus strength training.

THATS FANTASTIC!!! I too am guilty of hoarding all clothes from my years of weight gains/losses... I think its because I dont want to have to spend money to buy new stuff 'if i ever get that size again' thought and its probably assisted me in more negative ways then I could list!!

Good for you for getting in there and weeding thru the past!

I have done the same thing in the past (keeping all those clothes, just in case)! Congratulations on getting rid of them! That's got to be a great feeling!

I did the same thing when I lost weight the last time....and it gave me an excuse to just gain it all back. Not THIS time. I have donated all the plus sized clothes and have no intention of letting myself get into a position where I would have to buy fat clothes again. So clean out your closet too....you'll be glad you did! :)

I actually had a "fashion show" for my fiance of clothes I haven't worn for a few years that I held on to and they are fitting now! I even have clothes in my closet that I bought for job interviews or bought on clearance last year that I didn't get to even WEAR because now they are TOO BIG! Tags still on them! It was a great feeling because I can't really SEE the weight loss on me, but I can feel it in my clothes now! :) Congrats to you!!!

That's super! Even better than Not eating everything on your plate and not feeling guilty; or throwing away left-overs when you Know they will go into the wrong person :blushing: Good Job!

I love what you are doing. I hope to get to the point where I have a big donation of gig clothes soon! It's taking me longer since I'm older... and I will have a lot to sort through. There are emotional attachments to old stuff too, which is really ridiculous when I think about it. Thanks for your inspiration!

    Awesome!

I remember how satisfying it was to donate my fat clothes!

    Kudos to you!

I found that process liberating and terrifying at the same time. When I was finished doing it I have 5 things in my closet and little funds to buy new. I paid my clothes forward to some friends and two of my amazing friends gave me some of their clothes. It was amazing.

I'm pretty jealous of you right now! I live with my sister and we are both losing weight. She is larger than I am so I give all of my things that are too big for me to her. I have to keep those things around and it's almost like they're mocking me.... "You'll need me again. I'll just hang out."

    I know the feeling!!

I was cleaning house in a pair of sweat pants... baggy as hell but, they worked for the event. i decided to clean my closet out.

After I was done. I had to go shopping because literally.. I had no clothes in my closet. Filled 3 trash bags full of clothes. Half of them I had never wore before.
It was a good feeling!! And the goodwill now loves me :)

Total clothes donated: eight 15-gallon bags. Still at least four more to go once I replace pants and suits.

Well I am giving a few things to my mother. But there is something about seeing those clothes on an 88 year old, hunched up, walker pushing, hobbling old woman (accurate)that just motivates me all the more :ohwell:
