is it just me, or does anyone else hate the
‘compliments’ towards weight lose. my aunt just walked up to me and said “gosh! you look like your disappearing. want anything to eat?” I know she was being nice, but for some reason the comment made me a little angry. and my mother always thinks I have an eating disorder now. If I decline food, she always comes back with “you better not be f**king starving yourself.” and because she says that, I started to body shame myself and hide my body. I hate it when people notice now. does anyone else feel this way? Like you can’t take the ‘compliment?’ it’s driving me insane.

Maybe they are concerned i don’t know your weight and it doesn’t matter what you weigh if they are used to seeing you heavier it can be shocking for family to see changes. I wouldn’t call what they are saying complimenting exactly either a compliment is a nice thing to say. Have you tried telling them how you feel? Maybe sharing that you feel healthier or something like that.
I enjoy compliments but if someone said those things I would feel awkward too.
