Tired after I eat!

Sometimes I get extremely tired right after a meal. Does anyone else have this problem or know what the possible cause might be?

I have tried to keep track to see if it was any certain thing I was eating but so far I can not figure it out. It has happened with meals that have no sugar and meals that have sugar. It has happened with a meal that I know has no wheat or gluten in it. I just don't understand it. I thought food was suppose to give us energy and often I feel fine but sometimes I feel so tired that I can hardly stay awake.

I drink a lot of water during the day so any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

  • I don't know of course, but if it is frequent and you can't come up with anything - you might have to seek some medical advice - there are plenty of causes. :flowerforyou:

carbs hide in foods you may not even be aware of and if your body isn't processing them properly you could be having issues I wouldn't really second guess or mess around with it....seek medical advice....its a simple blood test they can tell a lot from that...really not a good sign if anyone is sleeping after a bowl of pasta or a baked potato...been there done that and ended up pre diabetic....

Same here. Carbs. And not veggie carbs, but pasta. Before I changed over to a raw plant diet, if I couldn't sleep I would fix a big plate of spaghetti. I would be asleep within a half hour. I even avoided pasta at lunch when I was working because I couldn't make it through the day.

I have heard that if you eat a meal and are tired right away, it's too many carbs. If you get tired in about an hour, it's too much protein. I don't know if that's true, but it might be worth looking into :)
