My Fitness Story

At 15, I started seriously exercising. Within 2 months, I had dropped 20ish lbs and was underweight. But I was determined not to give up working out, so I was told to change my workout habits into something that would require me to eat more to see results.
That's when I picked up my first barbell... And it literally changed my life.
At 16, I competed in my first powerlifting competition, placing 2nd in a total of 8 girls.
My numbers weren't impressive haha but I was proud.
I'm 5"2 and at the time I weighed 125 (originally 97-98 from my anorexia days) and I benched 110, squatted 156, and deadlifted 230.
At 17, I had changed my focus and competed in my first figure show. I placed 5 out of 6, which definitely wasn't the best, but again, I was proud of myself and had a blast!!
A year after that, I ended up injuring my shoulder which I'm still dealing with, so I stopped powerlifting and any heavy work for my upper body.
Consistency started to falter a bit the rest of the year as life got busy, I got married, and suddenly I became extremely sick... For about 4 months.
I ended up going to the ER and found out I had an infection on my heart that required me to have open heart surgery just last May, 2019.
I recovered quickly but didn't touch weights (or did really anything besides walking) for 2 months... When I turned 20, in June of last year, I found out I was pregnant... Yes. One month after surgery haha.
Everything went very smoothly, I had no complications I gained about 29 lbs, going from 128 pre-pregnancy to 157.
I gave birth to a healthy baby boy at home in March ❤️
Now... I'm 130ish lbs and wanting to lose 10-11lbs, my workout regimen is basically back to square one, and I have loads more to recover from. Surgery, ab separation from pregnancy, pelvic floor strengthening post birth, and an achy shoulder.
But I have never lost my determination to better myself and to reach my goals. Doesn't mean I don't have bad days.. because I do. Especially since I've gone back so far from where I used to be. But I need to keep it mind that it's a journey, right?
Your turn!
