I have a hard time deciding whether or not I should lose more weight or gain muscle. I've had an eating disorder in the past (don't worry, for the most part I'm good now lol) so I don't really have a good idea of if I'm small, large, medium, y'know. My friends and family say bulk, but I think it's because they're afraid I'll go back to my old habits, but I know I'll be alright cause I'm done with hating myself! I just wanted some opinions from strangers for whether or not you think I should start gaining muscle or lose more weight. Thank you!![b3nywne9i0k0.jpg](https://us.v-cdn.net/5021879/uploads/editor/95/b3nywne9i0k0.jpg)

If you are at a good weight for your height and want to work on your body composition I would recommend recomp. See this link for more info:

You do know you don't have to bulk to gain muscle I hope?
What are your long term goals for physique and any other fitness / strength / body composition goals?
How are you training / exercising now?3 -
I would also suggest a recomp.2

If “bulking” as you referred to it were simple, many men would look like The Rock. That said, muscle is good for a variety of reasons including slightly higher calorie burn, better health, muscle can help support joints (useful as you start to age), etc.0
