Hello Everyone. I just found MFP 3 days ago and I am just starting to find my way around. I have been little most of my life until recently. 62 years, which I call "seasoned citizen" not senior. At 5'2 inches 120-125 lbs, I quit smoking in January. Weight crept up tp 135 which made my thyroid ( I have none, it was removed years ago)) less effective and I crashed into hypothyroid for a few months until I had new labs done and it was caught and meds increased. Weight increased again, another 7 pounds making me 142. The Beta blocker I take for high blood pressure which can add weight since your metabolism slows down became less effective with the weight gain and Dr increased it which again, added more weight. I now hover between 145 and 148. I ran out of clothes and honestly look like a pear which I now know what that body shape means. All this from trying to do a healthy thing and quit smoking. This time however, I am determined to deal with the extra 20 pounds rather than take up smoking again. I looked into all of the diets and decided to start with calorie counting. The hardest part is that I am an "essential" worker in a Pharmacy. My shift makes it hard to cook healthy meals and stick to them vs frozen to make sure Im actually getting enough nutrients. Its the beginning of a new journey for me. Nice to meet you all.
