Recommendation for android step tracker--should run in the background.

I have been using Google Fit but it's been a little glitchy lately and not recording some of my walks.

I need something that runs in the background so that I am not constantly starting it and stopping it every time I walk anywhere.

Any help on this would be welcome. Thanks!

Pacer Pedometer can be used as a step tracker and can be synced with MFP. I used it before buying a fitness watch.

I use Pedometer by Ito Technologies.

Works in background, easy to use and very accurate based on time/distance comparisons w/Map My Hike and Map My Walk.

In addition to Pacer, a Fitbit app and account are available without a device. The app when not connected to a device uses the android phone's pedometer to calculate steps. The app SHOULD also be able to record manually triggered GPS walks/runs in addition to the automatic recording of step counts.
