I keep screwing up especially on the weekends ////Like yesterday I thought I was ok with a personal pizza .. Then Later in the evening it turned into binge eating!! I need to stop this.. I need some encouragement because I am over here beating myself up!! I have lost weight before and I know I can do this again!! I thought about joining Weight Watchers Because I NEED the discipline ... Anyone else understand?

Sometimes when I go that route I have a very good idea of the why I did it, then other times I look back and think wth happened to me? It was like my inner(evil) self took over and I had absolutely no control once I started. :( It's a toss-up between feeding my emotions and figuring out my trigger foods/what's available in the house. One week I was eating cookies like there was no tomorrow so I bought myself a bag of mini chocolate rice cakes to fill that need. That wasn't so helpful because I ate the whole bag in one sitting. :(
Currently whenever I feel that 'feed me now' feeling rushing in, I'll grab a couple clementines, chew gum, get a cup of coffee, or just tell myself 'ok, in another hour I'll have dinner, etc.'
I'm betting, as the PP said, pizza was your trigger food. Certain foods do it for me also, so I either have to keep them out of the house or try really really hard to limit them, count the calories, and move on.
Good luck!!! Today is a new day!!!

How big is your calorie deficit, and how many calories are you eating per day? Often, when a deficit is too big people suddenly start to binge because they left out all the things they enjoy, and then have one nice thing, and oh, the day is messed up anyway and continue.

I tend to be triggered by foods like pizza, which is high in carbs and fat, and relatively low in protein and fiber. So what I do is have a big salad with pizza, with some cottage cheese for a protein boost. I'll also plan for a higher protein snack later in the evening.

I found myself getting to this point today. I was irritable and just thought, you know, I am going to eat what I want to be happy. No girl, not the answer. I blogged about it instead. I ramble in my blog so I keep it private, but it really helped my mood. I used to get triggered by certain sweets so I no longer allow them in the house. I have special items for when I can fit it in my calories for the day and I eat it really, really slow and savor it. I believe we can all rewrite the script in our heads to stop the binge eating. Tricks that I have also learned would be to chew gum, brush my teeth or have a crystal light packet if I really want something sweet. You can do it! Just do it!! :)

This would be my question too.

In my experience, a binge-like response can be the result of mental or physical deprivation. Mentally it can be spawned by being too strict with food choices and I go into a rebel eating/I don't care mode. Physically it is a form of self-defense from eating too little food. Unfortunately what ends up happening for me in the latter is that I eat far more calories than I need to "catch up."

Of course a binge can be triggered by other things but I do not have personal experience with them.

It is important to lose weight at a sustainable rate and be kind to yourself in food selection during the process. Going strict and fast always eventually ended in me failing. Going kind and at a reasonable pace turned out to be much faster because I could finally stick with it.
