Do I need to lose weight? Honestly?

I’ve gained about 30 kilos in a year and I absolutely hate myself for it. I’ve suffered with an eating disorder in the past and I don’t want to go down that route, but I just have no control over food at all and I’m wondering how to get rid of the tummy and thighs

I am gonna be really annoying and say you are the only one who can decide!
If you feel unhealthy and less confident than you would like then maybe it would be a good idea. But you would need to go very carefully if you've suffered with an eating disorder in the past and make sure you are getting some support with it professionally so that those old issues don't start to resurface.3 -
Learning to like and even love yourself is the greatest transformation. The way you speak to yourself matters.1

If you've gained 30kg in a year, I think the first step is just maintaining your weight at its current level, just for health reasons.
And only as a second step, would I think about potentially losing weight.
I second the idea of getting professional support, with regards to your previous history of an eating disorder (and possibly current issues too, since you mention having no control over food).
You posted pictures, but imho:
- it you can determine if you want to change how you look
- how you look isn't the only factor, your mental and physical health is just as important2 -

Be kind to yourself. If you've suffered from an eating disorder in the past, you clearly have a complex relationship with food.
Have you calculated your BMI? Gaining 30kg may be a red herring if you were underweight to begin with.
I agree professional help would be a great move for you. That's not to say I don't think you can lose the weight if you want to, just that having someone to keep an eye on you as you go down this journey would help give you the reassurance that you're doing it right this time. I think you deserve that support, and it would be helpful.0 -
If you have a history of an eating disorder yet you want to be at a healthy weight, I would suggest telling your doctor or mental health provider that you want to do this, but you need to be honest with them about your weight goals, motivation, fears, and keep in touch with them. If you can, have them monitor you to be sure you don't have a relapse of your eating disorder. It would be really sad/dangerous if you lost weight to be healthy, and then had a relapse.1
