Hi everyone!
I am 44, and I have unfortunately spent most of my adult life overweight. I really went a bit overboard over quarantine, and now I am at 207lbs on a 5'2'' frame. I just can't believe this is me looking back in the mirror.
So it took a while to really commit, but I feel the energy and the desire - totally ready to do this. I've already lost 10 pounds - gotta love that first week on a weight loss plan, right? Now it gets real - time to stay on track, get that exercise in and get down to a healthy weight.
My reasons: My knees are awful. They can't take this abuse anymore!
My kids - of course. Gotta get healthy so I can live a long, happy life with them.
An upcoming wedding - I have a year to get myself to a more comfortable size. I really, really want to learn to do some (wait for it...) Tik Tok dances at the wedding. LOL. I do! But I sure as heck can't do the one where you hop on a leg right now....207 pounds landing on a knee that's already shot...not so good.
My commitments:
30 minutes of exercise every day. Totally possible - I spend at least an hour a day screwing around with silly phone games - so I can definitely get moving more.
Weekly produce purchases at Costco. Our Costco has wonderful fruits and veggies - I am practically living on it this week, and feel healthier than I have in a long time already.
Prayer. Yeah - these times call for it more than ever. Time for some self reflection and help from above, especially as I conquer what some might call either bad habits, or even addiction.
Significant Alcohol Reduction - while I am not swearing it off completely - I have decided to eliminate it from social outings since I have found I depend on it way too much to socialize. I also have found myself drinking alone after hubby goes to works and this is not healthy either. So maybe a glass of wine or 2 or 3 with the hubby if he is home, but other than that, I am eliminating drinking. Don't need those extra calories!
OK, so that's it for now. I'll be doing 1200 - 1600 calories a day, and I'm watching the macros so I stay full and energized as much as possible with decreased calories.
That's my story. Hope to hear yours! Friend me if you want some positivity in your feed and if you want someone to help you stay on track. We can do this!!
Good to meet you all!
