Calorie calculation

I’m perplexed and hoping someone can explain how this works. I’ve been adding my food and exercise into the mobile app. I would like to know how the calculation works.
Example: Goal 1200 - 1237 (food) + 1371 (exercise) = 1334 (remaining). How does any of that make sense? I burned more than I ate by 134 calories...what is remaining is more than the goal.
Or
Goal 1200 - 1779 (food) + 1220 (exercise) = 641 (remaining). I ate more than I burned and it is allowing me MORE?!?!

Mfp is designed for you to eat back your exercise calories.
How are you calculating your exercise calories?

What type of exercise are you doing that burns 1200-1300 calories?

You didn't eat more than you burned though: your body burns calories for all its basic functions on top of those exercise calories.

So you need to eat back your exercise calories to arrive at the deficit/weight loss rate you selected, or your deficit will be too aggressive.
That being said, the calorie burn for your exercise sounds excessive, it would be interesting to know what exercise you did precisely and how long, and how much you weigh.
