Generally pain is your body's way to tell you to stop doing something. There are LOTS of ways to get a good workout in, many of which won't cause you any pain. If it was me, I'd explore these rather than risk my back, because once you've got a serious back injury, often there is no coming back again, you'll need to modify everything forever. You seem pretty determined to carry on regardless though, so.....good luck?4

Yep, I tried to work through knee pain over 10 years ago and still have knee issues1 -
For the OP what are your 'disc issues" and how were they diagnosed?
There are many things that can cause back issues other than a disc.0
