Is it possible?

Is it possible to gain just over half a pound since Saturday? Early last week I was 137.4 and I was so sure I was going to be 136 or lower by now. My body is really hanging onto the weight it's annoying. I also think it could be partially constipation but I'm not sure, I have been feeling a little constipated even though I'm drinking alot of water. I did over eat like once on Saturday 2100 calories instead of my 1500-1600 but when I completed my diary it said I still would be less then what I am in 5 weeks. I was 140 pounds yesterday as well so seeing 138 this morning is a relief. Maybe it's water weight too I was sore , still am tiny bit.
I feel like I'm stuck since may. I want to be 130. I can't wait until I hit my goal

Your body is always processing different amounts of food and water and responding to various activities and the environment. It's absolutely possible to "gain" half a pound since Saturday (or even overnight), especially if you have more waste in your system than usual.4

It sucks cause seems when I want to way in lately I'm constipated or near my period. My period is two weeks away so probably gaining some water now too0 -

It helped me to let go of the idea that I had a "true" weight that was being disrupted by all these internal or external factors. I found that concept very frustrating. Instead I just weigh daily, put the weight into a trending app, and just let it go. As long as I'm in my preferred range (while maintaining) or on a general downward trend (if losing), then I'm fine.2 -
One week I indulged and ate a whole pint of Ben and Jerry's on a Saturday night. Monday a.m. I was dreading that scale but I'd lost 1.5 lbs. The next week I came in a little under my calories every single day and gained half a lb. Yep. Lesson learned for me...eat more ice cream.
But yeh, weight goes up/down, sometimes for no clear reason, as long as the down trend keeps going down over the long haul.
Good luck! It'll happen.3 -

Boy is it hard to get my mind to stay in that mode. Some days I'm like whatever it's just number and I'm getting fit still and other days it just really bothers me. Feels like the hard work is not paying off in some ways0 -
The answer is in this article.1 -

Could you afford a smartscale? I have one and it automatically sends my weigh-in to a phone app (Fitbit scale and app). Some days I reeeeally don't feel like weighing in or don't feel like seeing a "gain" despite knowing it's just fluctuations. With the smartscale I can just hop on, not even look at it, and hop off without any conscious effort to log the weight. That way I get the data and it's all there for when I'm in a better headspace and can calmly analyze it, but I don't have to deal with it when I'm in a mood where it would bother me.
Also, fluctuations are very real and they exist. I just checked to another similar discussion: if I only weighed in on Mondays, in the last 3 weeks my weight would have gone
+ 3.5 pounds
- 1.9 pounds
- 0.4 pounds
Weighing daily and following the trend, I know I'm losing about 0.5 pounds per week, and I don't freak about about the odd 3.5 pound "gain".2 -
Half Lb is well within the realm of normal and natural body weight fluctuations.1

Good point. I have a living basics scale that connects to an app called Leaone. I haven't been logging every weigh in cause I want to log my lowest weight but you make some good points. If I log every day ..thinking even twice a day (once in morning then at night ) I'll have a better idea how my body works. I just have to keep in mind that my weight will fluncuate and my hard work isn't going to waste. My fitness level has increased big time and that's something to be proud of
Thanks for the insight 🙂1 -
My scale gives increments in 0.2 lbs.
The paperwork (ya I looked!) says it's accurate to 0.5 lbs.
You might check your scale OP, you could easily have had no literal change in weight - but the scale will show 1/2 lb either direction - or more actually is even possible.1 -
