Pasta Serving Size Confusion?

Pasta Serving size is 2 oz

When cooked that becomes about 4 oz

So... Do they both = 200 calories?

Or do you weigh 2 oz cooked pasta to get 200 calories?

Thank you for any/all help! :)

Yes, the extra weight is from the water absorbed.

I weigh my pasta dry and log those calories.

You weigh the pasta dry, but the 200 calories is for the cooked amount. No need to weigh it after you cook it.

    Hope this helps! ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ˜‹

If you don't add oil, etc. to add calories: then yes the 2 oz dry pasta at 200 calories is still 200 calories once cooked.

Well, I guess I've been cheating myself!
I've been measuring 2 oz after it's cooked! (Such a small sad portion!)
So my 4 oz cooked naked pasta serving is 200 calories... yay!
    Thank you Ladies!!! :)

I make pasta dishes about twice a week and I'm always surprised at how much 2oz dry pasta (or 56 grams) ends up being when cooked, especially when you bulk it up with lots of veggies!
