Struggle: Bit of a struggle limiting something sweet at the end of the day, as in I can't seem to stop at just one piece of chocolate or one biscuit and more than once went overboard. Not sure what sets it all off, but I'll try to eat more during the day of healthy foods, particularly fats and see if that helps.
Success: I've been doing yoga daily and gradually increasing my steps so burning more calories and feeling more fit!

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: My average weight is a bit up again this week, though that's mostly due to yesterday and today with a huge TOM weight gain, so I'm not too worried about it. I had three restaurant meals between yesterday and today, so that will likely have a bit of an impact on the scale in the coming days as well. I've got a 4 mile walk planned in a few days, and hope to be able to fit in another outdoor activity near the end of next week too.

Success: While I am reportedly in maintenance, my weight is still drifting down, slowly. I moved my maintenance range down a tad. I had no weigh in last week over 170. Every weight within in a 1 pound range. Feeling strong and healthy.

Struggles: My Fitbit went kaput last week. It was still under warranty, but that meant I had to send it in and wait for them to send a new one back. It should arrive the middle of next week. That's a long time to go without one. I have been relying on it for exercise calories. So, I'm doing some estimations in the meantime. Will be interesting to see if I am over or under estimating.

    Have a good month.

Success/Struggles: This week I've gotten back on track with daily exercise. Struggling with my sleep habits - have been staying up late for no good reason, which means I'm tired in the morning, and not getting up when I should. This pushes my day out, losing time to inefficiency. Just got to keep working on it :)

    Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week:
I find keeping my activity up is tiring. I try to do at least a half hour of exercise each day. Mostly chair aerobics during covid as the pool where I do water aerobics with physical therapist has only been open a month since lockdown in March. They closed in August again due to rising numbers of tests being positive and a lot of people who use this pool are in risk groups.
On the positive side I have been able to maintain my weight. Gained a little while on vacation but I have lost most of that now.

Hi! My name is Kristen. And I struggle to maintain my weight. I have had great success losing/gaining, but I'm hoping this group helps me be more accountable. I weigh only 1x week on Sundays, so that's when I'll check in. My 2 goals in 2020 are to not let the scale go above 153 and weigh in EVERY Sunday for the WHOLE YEAR. This seems easy to most, but I get lazy and make excuses why I don't need to weigh in and then all of a sudden everything in my closet has shrunk. LOL

Successes/Struggles: Happy September! Not really feeling like fall here yet. Had my BF's parents in last weekend, so I skipped my weigh in. We had a great visit, but it was weird not being able to take them many places. Not much more to report.

I'm good with my current weight trend.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Struggles: I live in Oregon. If you've been watching the news, you probably know that the entire west coast of the United States is on fire. Oregon has been hit particularly hard with 35 separate fires going on at once. Thankfully, we are not in an evacuation zone and I think the fires will not reach us. However, the smoke has settled into the Willamette Valley and currently our air quality is considered hazardous. We have the unfortunate distinction of having the worst air quality on the planet at the moment. I have not exercised since Monday, since this catastrophe began. I have a horrible headache, and I'm so stressed out, but otherwise am okay. On the bright side, haven't really worried about the pandemic since Monday, so there's that.

Success: So here's the weird thing. I was worried with no exercise, I'd gain weight. Instead, I steadily lost weight all week, with a low yesterday of 164.3! That was 5 pounds since Sunday. Appears all that rowing and running I was doing (plus getting up at the crack of dawn to row) was causing water retention. Also, I got my Fitbit back, so even though walks and runs are out of the question for now, at least I get credit for the steps around the house. I'll be interested to see what happens with my weight when I can exercise again.

    @speyerj

That sounds familiar. We're apparently neighbors, and yes the air has been awful. Headaches for sure, and some nausea. I actually took a sick day because some of the symptoms are the same as COVID, and while I don't think I've been exposed, I didn't want to share with co-workers. I only work in the office a couple days a week, and on Friday I called my boss to see if I could work from home on an in-the-shop day because otherwise I'd take another sick day. It's been bad.

I have a couple N95 respirators leftover from building a kayak several years ago. I pressed one into service to take a walk on Tuesday. Without it, the air tasted like licking a black stick from yesterday's campfire. This is what I saw:

    My street mid-day:

Staring directly at the sun mid-day:

The winds have shifted, so this smoke we have now is blowing back in after being hundreds of miles out over the Pacific. At least that means it's not raining ash anymore.

I have a Rogue River permit a few weeks out. I will probably cancel it. I was down there during the Chetco Bar fire, and it was awful. Headaches among most of the crew, and just really hard to get normal things done. I don't want to go through that again, and the larger fires will burn through October. Some may burn underground through the winter and start smoking again in Spring like happened with Eagle Creek.

My heart aches for all the people who have lost homes, businesses, and lives. I know the firefighters have finally established some anchor points to actually start fighting the fires. Knowing that wildfires don't always devastate ENTIRE landscapes, I hold out a tiny bit of hope that our river canyons aren't totally devoid of forests. As the rains come, many of those burned trees will end up in the river. This can possibly provide some fish habitat, and for sure creates more hazards that people will confront. Be careful out there.
