i have some physical issues that get in the way of just jumping on a bike and peddling away madly or going into beast mode when working out. it REALLY frustrates me, but after overdoing and paying the price a few times, i've been taking it easy, experimenting with what works, and have come up with a huge collection of workarounds, although i always have the feeling through any workout, cardio or strength, that i'm one rep/move away from hurting myself.
still, today i manged to do 37 vigorous minutes on the bike for the first time in years!
that's huge because i have been working on flexibility and strength in my knees and ankles for months, and i could never have done this three months ago. my left knee and ankle hurt, but only a tiny bit. my legs feel pumped, my feelings are mixed, but i made it this far, and a year ago, i couldn't have imagined pulling it off.

creativity has been a huge part of it! our exercise bike is a recumbent, and i have to change positions several times to avoid certain issues.
you should see what i use on the cable machine to isolate abs and lower back! it's a several foot piece of seat belt material with a D ring on each side that's made to hold up hammocks and tree swings. i put seat belt fleece on it, then use it for crunches and lower back. it works great.
thanks - i love my avatar, too. i have another southpark avatar for halloween with fangs and a top hat
