Me too, lol. Been loving my low-calorie french toast with a lot of strawberries.

This has to be by far the easiest way to make pancakes. So many bread options. Potato, whole wheat, white, pumpernickel, etc.

    My head is spinning...

Same I didn't realize you could do it with already-made bread. I wonder how well it turns out with bread-ends, because that would be a great use for them.

Ok. I have to try this. Just because. Wonder if it works without the gum? I bet it does if you let the batter sit til the flour absorbs some of the liquid.

When I make French toast I just dip the bread in liquid eggs and cook it in a Teflon pan without any oils. It’s pretty much the same thing.

I just came across this guy recently and LOVE his videos. A bunch of my family always complain they can't lose weight and don't understand the idea of eating low calorie foods so I sent them one of his videos, lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9E7LslOeaM&feature=youtu.be

At first I didn't know if I liked him because he screams and uses a weird voice, but as I watched more and more of his videos, he grew on me. I had to search here to see if anyone else made posts about him.

That looked gross! Why would I need 66 grams of protein from a pancake that's the size of my winter blanket. Bodybuilders are the worst chefs. This guy is built like a pitbull and admittedly uses steroids. The rest of us shouldn't aspire to eat like these bodybuilders who eat for the stage and not for longevity.

If you watch more of his videos you will see he is just great at making low cal high volume food and doesn't promote anyone strive to look like he does. I didn't like him at first but after I watched a few really agree with everything he says. I also pretty much eat exactly the way he does and have been for years since I am a volume eater. I thought it was funny a lot of his "recipes" are things all of us in the volume eater thread have been eating for years.

    and admittedly uses steroids.

This is why I like him. He doesn't just make the french toast and show you the workouts like most other "fit-fluencers". He is very transparent and I admire that.

I think one thing that (some) online bodybuilder cooks are really good at is showing you how all kinds of meals can be adapted to fit various calorie and macro goals. So although I don't necessarily need a giant pancake with 66 grams of protein, I can take the general *concepts* of flexibility and adjustment and apply them to my own goals.

Now if he admits to doing steroids in the video (or another source), that is concerning. Are you sure you're not just basing it on the "anabolic" in his branding? That word is sometimes associated with steroids, but the definition of the word makes it clear that it is not an admission to steroid use.

He uses something called HRT. He is very clear in his videos. He does not tell people to use, he just does not flaunt his results without being transparent with what he does...

HRT, like medically prescribed hormone replacement?

There's a funny video of Doucette reacting to some chef's french toast video (Doucette is horrified by the amounts of fat and sugar included). While I rarely have french toast since my preference would be closer to the chef's (with some major differences, as I wouldn't add extra sugar or egg yolks or cream and would likely use skim milk if on hand), I also wouldn't use sugar-free syrup or artificial sweetener or extra egg whites (vs whole eggs) or protein powder. I consider myself something of a volume eater, but mostly just because I bulk everything up with lots of veg.

Yes he is on HRT which is legal in Canada.

I actually found his videos about his "cycles" and the crazy stuff he took to break the world record very interesting and eye opening. I had no clue what lengths body builders go through.

I eat the same "oatmeal goop" as him but I call it volume oatmeal, homemade quest bars, protein ice cream, etc. It's really nice to see someone promote calories in vs calories out. I eat the same french toast, but I don't add protein powder. Cuts down on calories and protein, but saves the volume because I'll be honest, I like being able to eat huge platefuls of french toast with sugar free syrup, lol.

    Quality vs Quantity.
    The choice is ours. Simple.

Why does it have to be one or the other?

Except there are also some high quality foods (as defined by either nutritional density or how much an individual may enjoy them) that aren't calorie dense and some low quality foods (by the same metrics) that are very nutritionally dense.

The choice isn't a stark one between quality and quantity. One can create high quality, high volume meals.

Since this got bumped here's my update lol. I didn't care for the pancakes. The texture was weird, but it could be that my bread doesn't work well with it. I still love the french toast though. I can only have the sugar free syrup in small quantities though - it gives me horrible gas if I have more than a serving or two.

Yeah I don't go for the sugar free stuff either. Just never tastes good to me. I tried the pancakes with potato bread and I liked it. I will say however, the egg whites made the texture off. But then again, I was never expecting them to actually be better or even the same as regular pancakes...

Maybe I'll try using a regular egg. I don't need as giant of a pancake as it makes, so that wouldn't be that big of a deal. It's kind of weird with the syrup because I'm fine with pretty much any other sugar free thing (I love sugar free jello and pudding) but sugar free syrup gets to me. Might be the amount of sweetener used.

I really like the french toast. I don't do protien powders, but of course the egg whites. I eat mine with pb powder now and jelly sooo good! I don't do steroids and think it is very unhealthy, but at least he was honest about it. I wouldn't go through the trouble for the pancakes 🌝

I watched a video where he states tracking macros is not necessary as long as you are not deficient in any . That was shocking to hear, especially coming from someone with so much lean muscle but I was secretly pleased to hear that since trying to calculate and meet daily macros can be so time consuming even with an app. :p Tracking calories of course is a different story.
