Extreme Weight Fluctuations after drinking

Hello

I drank beer last night with very minimal food to try and eliminate bloat but I gained 7 lbs overnight when I stepped on the scale this morning. I’m concerned that this is abnormal to retain water this much. It often happens to me after tough workouts as well. Has anyone else experienced this? What can I do to offset it?

It would definitely be better to eat food with very minimal beer instead.

I mean, you mess up the whole hydration and nutrition equation doing stuff like you did.

I'd say try to stay hydrated (with water) and eat a balanced plan for a few days and see how it goes.

Drinking alcohol and avoiding food is not going to end well, of that much I am sure.

As far as the gain after workouts, you don’t want to offset that. Your muscles are retaining extra water that they need for repairs. Just try not to freak out at the number on the scale - you are trying to lose fat, not water, and that temporary water weight number doesn’t tell you anything about how much fat you have.
