Hey all! I really enjoy listening to podcasts while I am walking and I was wondering what your favorite podcasts to tune into while working out.

I like "Wait, wait", and "Hey, Puzzle Puzzle". I just switched to listening to an audio book, and that's been great too.2

I'm usually on my roadie or trail bike so I don't usually listen to much besides listening for traffic or other trail riders or hikers...but occasionally I'll throw a podcast on if I'm on the indoor trainer or a fairly deserted area outdoors...I like sports podcasts mostly...I've been listening to the Dan Lebetard cast lately...I listen to him on the radio as well...he's not everyone's cup of tea and most people "don't get the show"...I think his podcast is better than his radio show though because he has more license to say whatever the f&*% he wants...though he pushes that envelope with his radio show too...3

There's this thread with a bunch of ideas (which also links to another thread...with a bunch of ideas)1

Judge John Hodgman (fake internet judge)
Wait, Wait! Don't Tell Me!
Radiolab
Freakenomics
Revisionist History
Story Corps
The Moth
and when I can manage to listen to something related to the news, the NYT podcast called The Daily

The Secret World of Slimming Clubs1

My favorites are Half Size Me and the Parcast Conspiracy Theories one. Also Dave Ramsey is interesting once in a while.1

I'm a true crime junkie...True Crime Garage, Truth and Justice, and True Murder are probably my top three in that category. I have a history one that releases a new episode like every 4 months but its about 3 hours long or more sometimes.
Being a foodie, I enjoy Milk Street Radio, too.
So many others, though....and audiobooks too!1 -

I like Milk Street Radio, too, but while driving, not walking0 -
If you're a Harry Potter fan Potterless is a fantastic one.0

I don't play anymore but this is a fantastic podcast. I also like Fantasy Football Today (CBS sports).1 -
I listen to a lot of podcasts: Including
History Extra, Dan Snow’s history hit.
Crowd Science, The Curious Cases of Rutherford and Fry (science/maths)
More or Less, The Inquiry, The Documentary, Today in Focus (news based)
Most of these are from the BBC and come highly recommended.
You can get really good BBC radio productions via eg audible (Agatha Christie / Inspector Morse / PG Wodehouse etc) And I enjoy the ‘Death of a ‘ series by MC Beaton for tongue in cheek crime solving.
And a final fanfare for the podcast Death in Ice Valley, a british/Norwegian podcast reopening a fascinating crime scene. So good I am about to listen to it all again.,1 -
I’m a bit of a nerd so I listen to:
SciShow Tangents
The History Chicks
Stuff you missed in History class
Sawbones
BBC History Extra Podcast
The History of England
Other ones I listen to randomly:
The TryPod
Confidently Insecure
The Darkest Timeline
Undiscovered
Useless Information Podcast0 -
Impact Theory, Gary Vee, Hal Elrod & Jimmy Kwik. After that its music0

I usually listen to whatever is currently on NPR, but between the 9/11 commemoration and the wild fires coverage it was too depressing yesterday. Next I tried the latest "Half Size Me" but it was about maintenance, where I am not. Next, itunes offered me "Pod Save America," which I listened to, and enjoyed.0

If you're into true crime, then I'd definitely recommend My Favorite Murder, it's a true crime/comedy podcast and it's really interesting1
-
Thank you all! I definitely have a lot of new podcasts to try out!1

I almost exclusively listen to true crime podcasts on my walks:
Crime Junkie
Redhanded
Uncover
Someone Knows Something
Canadian True Crime
Crimebeat
For human interest type stuff, check out Strangers. It is amazing.2 -
I usually take ~1hr to do my runs and I hate having to take my phone out to change so I try to pick pods that have episodes that last an hour or so. Depends on what topics you're into but here are some that I typically listen to:
My Favorite Murder - comedy, definitely longer than an hour usually..but they talk a lot at the beginning of each episode before they get to talking about the murder...lol.
Oh No Ross and Carrie - this is two friends who do investigative journalism type stuff with topics involving spirituality, fringe science, and/or religion --- there is a multi-part series where they traveled to a retreat in Costa Rica and did ayahuasca .... it's fascinating. They are very smart people, do their research and I love listening to them.
Astonishing Legends --- these are two friends who also do boatloads of research for their episodes - which focus on supernatural stuff, paranormal stuff, folklore, and/or cryptids (think....Mothman/haunted stuff/Skinwalker Ranch...UFOs...etc.).
Good Job Brain -- unfortunately there are not new episodes of this pod any longer but it was 4 friends - all very smart - and it's basically like a pub quiz show. They make quizzes for each other (some episodes are all quizzes) and basically pick a topic each episode and give you a bunch of trivial knowledge about that thing. I like it a lot. And like I said, there aren't new episodes but they have a huge backlog to get into if you like it.0 -

I’m just here looking for podcast recommendations. Keep them coming! Here’s a good history podcast I found:

Best Case Worse Case is interesting. Retired FBI profiler and a former federal prosecutor interview law enforcement from all branches. I sincerely appreciate that they don’t treat southern cases as dumbasses and play hillbilly background music. That’s what makes me cringe and fume about Dateline.
If you like British humor check out No Such Thing as a Fish, a podcast by the researchers for the brilliant and hysterically funny QI quiz show hosted by Stephen Fry and Sandi Toksvig (who has a lovely podcast of her own called We’ll Get Through This).0
