Bellabeat Leaf

Hi Everybody, I am very green to this weightloss thing and MFP. I have had to work on my health & weight all my life but since having a baby over a year ago, I have been struggling to lose the last 7kg that just won't budge!
I am loving the community support in here but I am desperate to find out more about the BELLABEAT LEAF. I hate the unattractive fitbits and heart rate monitors and quite like the pretty leaf design. The only thing is that without a heart-rate monitor, do people find that it helps with weight loss?
I note that fitbits & other fitness trackers measure heart rate but wondering if it's actually distance and time that the Leaf does measure, that will help me lose weight. At last.
Many thanks,
Cindy

The Leaf sure is pretty! I'm not too sure what it tracks, I tried to find out more on their website but they wanted me to sign up and I wasn't keen to do that! It seems that it has movement sensors so I'm not sure if it's guessing what activity you're doing? Or if it links to an app and you tell that app what you're doing. Kind of hard to say, hopefully somebody here has one and can shed some light!
I did want to say with the Fitbits, there are some metal covers you can get now that make it look just like a pretty bangle on your arm. Not sure if you'd seen those.
Personally, I wear an Apple Watch as I like its other features (taking phone calls, calendar reminders etc.) as well so it works for me. I think what you ultimately choose depends on what you're hoping to get out of it. For many, a simple pedometer helps as they can get a better idea of overall movement each day. Others really want something for accurately estimating calorie burn so the ones with a heart rate monitor suit better (Fitbit, Apple Watch, others). And others really want GPS tracking for their runs so they go with a Garmin or an Apple Watch for that (others maybe too, I'm not sure which have it and which don't).
All of this, a long-winded way to say: figure out what you want out of it, then figure out what models will give you that!1 -
Thanks, that helps a lot. All of the best TwistedSass! I didn't know about the Fitbit covers - will look into that now.0

I don't know about this product - but one note about fitness trackers in general: they will be accurate in estimating calories for some and off for others. The same device, you can find people who on opposite sides.
But the neat thing is: you can use any tracker to get a baseline of your activity level in terms of steps. Then use it to set goals to challenge yourself to move more. And moving more burns more, so that is good.0
