Hi guys, I work in the healthcare field And travel to different places throughout the year and of course i want to try all the local cuisine in every new city Im in .So I find myself indulging. I do find a gym or go hiking in every new place so I can least burn off some calories and keep my exercise routine sort of normal. Any ideas or tips on how I can still keep my diet routine and also experience the taste of different parts of the country? Thanks

I've traveled a lot for work. If there is something really unique or that I'm looking forward to, I will try it. But I don't make it a goal to try all the local cuisine. I keep most of my meals on plan. When travel is part of my work, I can't treat it like a vacation and be successful with my weight management.

I agree with @janejellyroll above. That said- I can fit most anything in my calories with planning and moderation. When I was traveling for work (preCovid) I would either take or stop and buy my usual protein shakes (daily breakfast) and snacks/lunches- cucumbers, carrots, celery, cheese sticks, yogurt, salad, etc. from a grocery store. This is how I normally eat and leaves me the bulk of my calories for dinner- something similar could be employed to allow you to sample within moderation any local cuisine.

Yes, this is a great tip! When I travel for work, I tend to have a set range of breakfasts and lunches that are lower calorie so that I have more calories for dinner. These meals often tend to be less exciting anyway, so it doesn't feel hard to cut calories there. This also helps if you are travelling with other people, having dinner together, and don't necessarily want to be noticed as watching what you eat.

I like to adopt an Intermittent Fasting or OMAD (one meal a day) approach when travelling. I'll eat a late lunch, that's large and maybe not perfect macros. Gives me a balance of enjoying myself and limiting consumption.
