Anyone here with double knee replacements?

I was basically unable to walk the year before my surgeries. Its been one year since my left was done and 4 months since my right was done. I have gained nearly 30 pounds on my already overweight frame. Im incredible miserable. I need a weight buddy that can keep me motivated to get down to my goal weight (lose60)

I have not had knee replacements myself, but my husband had both (and a shoulder!) - he had to work hard to get the weight off. I had other kinds of things but found a fantastic group that has helped me maintain for several years now. I lost 40 pounds and have been in a good weight zone for 8 years, but always need support to keep it there and to keep fit.

Here is the info about the group if you want to come take a look and give it a try! I can guarantee that there are people with all kinds of challenges and the support, info, and encouragement are great. It is the Fat2Fit Weight Loss Challenge and Support Group. We have six teams of around 25 people. You get to know everyone and work together to keep moving towards your goals. Give it a try for October!

You can explore the group on https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/114605-fat-2-fit-weight-loss-challenge-and-support-group

You'll see the team chat threads under Discussions, full group challenges and discussions under Announcements. The month's schedule is there - explore all around and if you want to sign up, go for it! The sign up is also under Announcements or you can go directly to

Hi not the knee but I had my hip replacement in June. So I’m struggling at the moment bc I regained what I lost for surgery ( without exercise bc I had to much pain for it) but now I’m back working and I’m kinda having some post surgery blues I think and life is just different! I had to work hard to get to where I’m now physically. I just need to enjoy my body and it’s abilities now. Still can’t do other exercises yet but walk I can do.

Hey Karylee. Had both my knees replaced in the summer of 2019. I did so much rehab that I did not gain weight but....then came CoVid-19. After 3 months of watching my weight creep up I signed up on MFP, started IF and got a recumbent bike. Three and a half months later I am down 30 pounds and I've pedaled that bike over 1100 miles. I still have a ways to go and and the weight loss has slowed way down. I need a buddy, too.

Start looking waaaay down the road. You'll need almost all of your body parts to make it across the finish line. Learn how to talk to yourself. Find the deeper reasons for doing this or none of it will stick. I know a surgical nurse with double knee replacements. Physician heal thyself. They didn't follow through with rehab or any of the recommendations. They can barely walk and seldom seen out of the house. Ever. Had to quit their job.

Pain is the precursor to change. It's trying to tell you something. In the end, there isn't anyone who can hold anyone accountable for their own well being 24/7. It's too exhausting. Each of us must learn how to get fit under real life conditions.

Find meaning in that pain and being uncomfortable. Suffering has a meaning but dig deep and find your reasons for living. Really living. Wring everything you can out of this life. How we speak to ourselves matters. Connection matters. Groups are great but learn how to prop yourself UP when no one else is around.
