The First Step

So last week I researched and began the one meal a day diet. It's a 1:23 window where anything is on the table in that one hour in the day. One of my biggest blocks in regards to losing weight and keeping it off is how much I used to "graze" throughout the day. I'm pretty adamant about losing as much weight as possible as fast as possible so the only thing I fuel myself with is egg whites, 1 cup of coffee, and water for the rest of the day. I work a pretty light factory job but do enough to be tired at the end of the day. I had once lost an incredible amount of weight in highschool by starving myself, suppressing hunger with cigarettes and other things; just generally losing that weight in an overall unhealthy fashion. This time I want to do it the right way and try to instill as much discipline in myself as possible. So, if anyone has any experience with or thoughts on the OMAD diet, please don't hesitate to clue me in.

Assuming thus isn’t a troll looking to get reactions out of people, my first and only words of advice to you would be to seek the help of professionals - dieticians and/or a counselor.
Sounds like you’ve got some heavily distorted and long running negative ideologies about food and losing weight.

You’re not going to find many people on here who will encourage you to go the route of losing as much weight as possible, as quickly as possible.

There are people on here who adhere to the concept of OMAD, but I don’t think that should be your route until you get some perspective going on what it means to have a healthy relationship with food.

    Just my two cents.

Changed my mind. OMAD has come under some fire recently. OMAD can lead to nutritional deficiencies from trying to eat all of the things in an hour's time. This is a short term bandaid
    contributing to long term disappointment.

I'll be sure to talk with my food and see how it feels about the OMAD diet. Thanks for the input.

I'm not sure your food would be happy with you eating it at any time.

Sorry, been working. I'm sure y'all could imagine what that's like. But in retort to your awful attempt at a put down, I'd say the same about the air you breathe. Maybe you shouldn't at any time.

OMAD is one thing. But consuming only egg whites and coffee, I really hope that's a joke.

I do a OMAD diet. I usually dont get a hungry until about 2:00 and I realized that I can easily hold off until 6:00. I am closer to 4:20, as I consider dessert part of dinner, but I eat it a couple hours later. I still log my meal in MFP as it is surprisingly easy to blow my calorie budget even in one meal. My meal is well balanced and healthy and delicious. It's something I can look forward to. I've been doing this for about 6 weeks and I've been averaging 1.5 lbs lost per week. I does work, you just have to be smart about it.

I am familiar with OMAD also. I do OMAD four times a week but that one meal is low carbs and has a calorie count of 1000. Eating egg whites is good protein but you need more to that meal if you want to remain healthy. By not eating enough your metabolism will slow and you will not lose any weight. Your idea is good but you need a lot more food to be successful at OMAD.

That's a lot of egg whites to even get close to a reasonable amount of calories, I imagine you tire of the diet fairly quickly.

I started OMAD 3 years ago. It took me a few months to get it right. OMAD works better if you do a ketogenic diet, otherwise you'll be constantly hungry. You cannot live on such an extreme calorie deficit. You're going to be wasting muscle, regardless of your weight loss. If you need to lose weight or fat, keep your calorie deficit between 10% and 20% of your TDEE and make sure you eat enough fat and protein.
