Lifting vs. Beer

Today I decided to post a Throwback Thursday pic. It was a picture of me in 1998 in college. I recalled that when I lived in the apartment in the picture I weighed 102 pounds (I only know this because one late crazy night my neighbor threw me over his shoulder and said I was light and wanted to know what I weighed...after I told him he was running around with me shouting, "buck-o-two!" over and over). During that time I was studying (a little) and partying (a lot). I realized looking at the picture today that I think I look slimmer now than I did in college, which is CRAZY because I currently weigh 32 pounds MORE now. In college my favorite activity was beer. Now my favorite activity is lifting. Will lifting make you bulky? No, not unless you want it to and even then it will take ridiculous amounts of work. Will lifting make you leaner? Yes. Pictures to prove it:
102 pounds
134 pounds
I apologize in advance for the pics being different sizes. I know how to do a lot of things, but caring enough to figure out how to resize pictures is not one of them.

Beer won't make you bulky either.
It's still one of my favorite pastimes.0 -

I know, haha...I was just hoping the title would catch some attention!
Note: I love beer.
Edit: But I sure don't drink as much as I did in 1998!0 -
I like lifting both beer and weights. You look great, and even smaller than you were back then!0

Hmmm...I haven't had to lift a keg for about 8 years! Used to bartend at a microbrewery so I slung them around a lot!0 -

Thank you!0 -
Beer is proof that our personal higher power loves us and wants us to be happy.
But I also say that about free weights, because I love them, too.
Great comparison pics, OP! :flowerforyou:
ETA: you look so much healthier in your "now" picture!0 -

Haha, I agree! I should have put in my first post that I am not anti beer...and I should have mentioned that in the picture I did not work out at all because I was in college full time, working about 30 hours a week and partying the rest of the time!0 -

Yeah you look great in both, hard to believe the difference in weight numbers but not a big difference in the photo. I needed that, because been lifting a lot, scale not moving as quickly but some clothes feels looser, so good to see how you look
Congrats by the way, looking good0 -

How about lifting AND beer?? My gym has a beer tap.
That beats the living hell out of PF's pizza night.
A good squat rack and a beer tap = heaven.
Just might want to drink the beer AFTER the workout . . .0 -

Ugh, did a run once after two 20's of Ten Fidy. I wanted to die before the first mile.
At home I'm building a bar with three taps, and then the next room over will be my gym.0 -
lift to be able to drink beer?0

Unfortunately I usually go before work. The retirees still have beer at 9am though.0 -
reminds me of the Homer Simpson quote.. 'alcohol, the cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems'.
