Hashimotos and weight loss

Hello! I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice please.
I’ve been on this journey since January 2020 and I’ve lost 56lbs up to now. I have hashimotos disease and my thyroid meds got increased 2 months ago which seems to coincide with me having a stall in weight loss. I’ve been eating the same amount of calories (around 1250) since January and I work out between 3-5 times a week. I have tried upping my calories for a week to see if it made a difference but it hasn’t. I read that in someone with under active thyroid issues you have a lower BMR so that’s why I eat so little calories.
Any advice would be great, it’s really starting to frustrate me now and I’m losing my motivation!

I also have Hashimoto’s. Unfortunately I find it to be a constant battle and the concept of calories in/calories out doesn’t work for us. Our thyroids control our metabolism so when our thyroid is out of whack so is our ability to lose weight. I have been on meds since 2003 and no matter what my levels read I still struggle to lose weight. What sometimes works for me is to take a break from dieting, go back to 1800-2000 calories a day for 2 weeks, then try again. One week might not be long enough. Sometimes a 2 week break is enough to trigger a shift. Another idea is to change up what types of foods you eat to give your body different nutrients. You can also try changing up your workouts (instead of walking try biking or weights). Another idea is to try just slightly increasing from 1250 to 1400 and see if your body accepts that. It may think you’re in starvation mode at 1250. I know it seems counterintuitive, but it is worth a try. I hope you find something that works for you! You are not alone 💜0

It was written by an MFPer who worked as a scientist in the hypothyroidism field, who was himself hypothyroid, and who himself lost weight using MFP. It's authoritative, and fact based. (I'm only talking about him in the past tense because I haven't seen him post in a while, not because I think anything dire happened to him, BTW!).1
