How much coffee do you drink and do you count it as part of your water intake?

Yeah, beer is mostly water so I count that towards my water too.

The only thing that counts towards my water intake is water. I have a big jug by the sink or a water bottle to help me keep track of how much I'm drinking. Coffee is also a diuretic so I try to drink more decaff than caff.

I drink plenty of water and don't track it, nor would I bother tracking the water in coffee. However, I do have coffee creamer as a staple in my snacks column every day. You have to make sure to count those sort of hidden calories.

Consumption of water contributes to your hydration whether it is plain, in coffee, or in a stick of celery.

    This^

Or in juice, tea, soda, beer, wine, hard liquor, soup, apples, oranges, peaches, apricots, cherries, berries, bananas, carrots, peas, squash, pumpkins, meat or whatever food and beverages that you eat and drink.

There are some animals in the desert that get ALL of their water from just eating seeds.

Ppl can't survive just eating seeds but the point is the same as the one made above - anything that you eat or drink that contains water in it contributes to your level of hydration.

I have 3 to 5 cups plain black coffee each day. I do not count it toward my water intake. I only count water on that but I mainly just try to stay hydrated.

I drink a lot of coffee, and I drink a lot of water - refill a 1ltr bottle I keep at my desk at least 2 times a day. I don't track either, but am definitely well hydrated with the added bonus of getting up from my desk to walk to the toilet every half hour - breaks up the monotony of work and gets me moving, so winning on all sides!

I drink 2 or 3 cups a day. I do not count it as water intake unless it is decaf because caffeine has a diuretic effect

Enjoy your coffee and don't sweat the small stuff.

Absolutely I count my coffee! It is true that caffeine is a diuretic, but drinking a cup of coffee does not result in a net loss of water - that's a pervasive myth that, as a dietitian, I wish would go away! So, if you drink 250 ml of coffee, you might lose 15 ml as extra urine. But don't sweat it. It's fine. Let's stop fussing over water already, drink when you're thirsty. We didn't evolve this far by dying when our water intake was a bit off, the body is pretty adaptable.

I don't track water intake, I simply drink fluids (including coffee) when I feel thirsty or they sound good. Combined with the liquid that it's the food we eat, it seems to work pretty well for me.

I typically drink about 16 ounces of coffee per day.

There was absolutely no acknowledgement of coffee causing fluid loss.

And even if it does it is probably not enough to be of any significance...

None. I'm seriously allergic to coffee it brings on asthma attacks. I can handle the tiniest amounts if decaf that its just not worth the bother.

I really struggle drinking plain water though, just bought a soda stream to see if making it fizzy makes it more appealing

I don't count my 3 cups of morning coffee, but I do count my tea. I switch from cold water to hot tea during the winter and drink 3-5 cups of hot herbal/green tea most days.

I've been drinking two cups of coffee because of the cold, and only count the 40 calories of creamer I use
