Does a Kcal mean the same as a calorie?

Yes, it does. The correct unit for energy in food is Kcal, but generally people (and maybe some countries) use cal1

Kcal stands for kilocalorie, just like kg stands for kilogram (1000 gram).
So technically kcal = 1000 calories.
But in day to day language, people say calories when they mean kcal.2
