Hi all, been using MFP for a while but never introduced myself or took weight loss as seriously as I should have.
2 months ago I weighed myself and discovered I was 479lb fast approaching 500lb that was my wake up call that I have to do something. So I started eating proper balanced meals and in two week I have lost 18lb.
A bit about me
I suffer from depression, anxiety and panic attacks and one of the things that I hope to achieve from losing weight is better mental health, but I do realise that my mental health may not be tied to my weight and I am worried that I could fall back into bad habits.
I really want and need to lose weight and to get healthy not just for my mental health, but also so I can visit family and do things that the average person can do.
Maybe TMI and I hope my anxiety doesn't get the better of me a delete this post.
I hope to meet folk who can encourage and keep me accountable.

There is a group called the Larger Losers. It has helped me a great deal just to have people to talk to that have been and are going through the same thing. As a mental health therapist I can tell you that the physical and the mental go very much hand in hand. I have used a lot of the skills that I teach my patients in my journey to loose weight and that has helped change how I think about food in general. I started at 400 and am down to 196 as of this morning so it does work!
It is important to have people to talk to through all of this. It is a big change and much to easy to just give up. Feel free to friend me. I love to chat with new people.3
