I would love to make friends on here to help keep me motivated. I weighed today at 326. My heart dropped I have let myself go where I promised myself I would never go with my weight. I have not been active at all because of a surgery and still looking at another. Please feel free to add me.

Delicate health conditions can be so very hard. My regards for a full recovery after the surgeries are finished.

I'm only speaking in general here about our brains. While we're on an eating excursion that takes us to the highest weight we've ever been not one single time does the brain stop us. Not. One. Single. Time. The brain just lays back in the weeds and enjoys the ride. The brain will encourage you to go on the thrill eating ride of your life. One that never ends. Not one time does the brain say we need to stop and look around here.

That's the brain. Then when the thrill eating ride is done the brain in its passive aggressive way turns it back around, pointing fingers and says...Just look at what you've gone and done to yourself. You promised yourself this would never happen again and it did. On and on and on and on. There might even be some name-calling which is just the worst.

At this point, don't listen to your brain anymore. This fight for your life has to begin right now. There's no such thing as the perfect day or timing to start. It is right now.

You have to measure and weigh your food portions, track your data points and gut it out. One meal at a time and one day at a time. It's gonna shake, rattle and roll. There will be angst and internal struggles but you want to live, live, live waaaaay into your super duper old age.

Don't bite off more than you can chew. Actively participate in the forums. Join a nice group. You're worth it and there will be many here who will come alongside you for support. Your mission is not to listen to anything the brain says. Measure and weigh and find your way to overall health and well being.

First off, like @Diatonic12, well wishes for a full recovery from your surgeries. Secondly, what a beautifu l day it is! You have recognized something that makes you unhappy, and now have chosen to fight.....what a freakin great day!

It does not matter where you are starting from, im not gonna speak to you in cliches and all kinds of motivational quotes, but the reality is today is a great day to begin.

I will tell you, that your journey to better health and fitness has little ti do with anything physical and is nothing more than getting control of your mind. Once you do, then the body follows, it has to......and results follow as well.

The mind has a tactical advantage over us all.....it knows your weaknesses, your fears, your insecurities, and has a safety mechanism that tells you to slow down, take it easy, to just stop when we are tired or uncomfortable. The first step is to literally take the next step when your mind says quit. Go just a tiny bit more once the quit thought comes in.....and then when it comes again go a tiny bit more. Soon you have lapped previous expectations and now YOU are in control.

I always start the day by getting out of bed within 5 seconds of waking up. Just like our bodies our minds need training too. If you wake up, regardless of what time, count to 5 and get out of bed. If you do this, no matter what happens with the day you have accomplished an act of discipline and something to feel good about. Its step one to a good day, or if the day isnt so great, its one thing that went right and you can build on it tomorrow.

I would also add, try to stay away from impatient thoughts as you try and change your situation. Every step you make should make you happier, whether its just getting out of bed without procrastination or losing just 1 lb. All if it matters, and take each tiny thing and add it as a victory. The victories will pile up soon enough, savor them and things will happen that you are sure to like 👍
