What Are You Watching? (YouTube Edition)

So even though YT is full of young, aspirational idiots doing irresponsible things maybe 50% of the time, it's also a great source of inspiration, motivation, curiosity and intrigue. So, what do y'all watch on the platform and what about it interests you? Share with the class. We could all stand to branch out some. :)

Puppet History from Watcher:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myM5SY1mHoA

What's not to love about a puppet show that's humorous, full of fun cultural references and can teach you about someone or something new that you hadn't heard about before? I enjoy that they (Watcher) try to keep the content interesting by not focusing only on the super-well known. Also, this is done by the people who do Buzzfeed's True Crime and Supernatural (Ryan and Shane). This is part of their personal business (Watcher) so is distinctly different from and has no relation to the Buzzfeed Network.

I've actually cut way back on my YouTube watching but I always liked the Tarrot readings. https://youtu.be/1TNO5tR3lBc
She's probably my favorite just because she's creative and sweet. I love her concept of charms.

ZeFrank: Some of you might be familiar with his "True Facts" series on animals or his "Sad Cat Diary". He did a short one for pandemic isolation and it's pretty cute/humorous. I watch them for a chuckle and to sometimes learn actual things about animals I don't always know a lot about.

Mythical Kitchen: Want to watch people recreate old or discontinued menu items? Or make historical menus while also being goofy?

Great idea for a thread! I’m on youtube a LOT. Rather than flood this with recommendations all at once, i’ll categorize some of my favorites because i’m all over the map

I like to listen to ambient jazz in the background when I work because I have zero emotional associations with it so it makes me feel really even-keel and relaxed (as opposed to listening to a radio station that plays a wide variety of hits, for example, because each song might trigger a new emotion depending on what I associate it with and that gets taxing really quickly)

This channel uploads something new every day and it’s almost always good

I absolutely love this girl. Her channel is mostly FX makeup stuff but she’s an incredibly cute and charming girl who, despite her innate nerdiness, can get just ridiculously hot. Even if you don’t care about makeup, her videos are entertaining. She’s adorable

    Good Mythical Morning:

Part game show/part talk show/part eat weird things to watch reactions, I watch this (and Good Mythical More) every morning (it runs every day minus weekends). The duo have a really good relationship with all the people working on their team (and they make appearances, as well). Before COVID, they would have all sorts of random guest stars to play the games or talk to and it is/was really interesting.

Living in a Ghost Town: A slightly eccentric dude purchased the former mining town of Cerro Gordo in CA (about an hour north of where I used to live). His YouTube channel is dedicated to the things he discovers as well as his very slow restoration of the former town as well as the setbacks that come along with it. He explores mines, adopts cats, talks about the buildings, goes treasure hunting, plays with goats. Pretty interesting, honestly.
