Why don’t the sums of the macros correctly equal the total calories consumed in this app??

If it's just a tiny bit then it might be a rounding error. If it's more then an incorrect database entry. REmember that the database is user-sourced and everyone can enter 100gr of cauliflour containing 70g of fat and a total of 2 calories.1

If you are looking at the percentages, don't forget that food is in grams (for my mfp settings at least) but the macro percentages and the pie chart relate to calories. To get from the grams to the calories, mfp does a calculation: 1g of carbs or protein = 4 cals; 1g of fat = 9 cals. (This confused me to start with and I wonder if it is what your question is about.)1

Rounding or bad entries.1
