How do I add friends and how do I get my avatar to show

I haven't been able to work those out?

Also posting images i just get image won't load? Do you need to be premium 🤔

Your avatar is showing fine here in the forums.

As for adding friends:
- tap/click on their username a first time
- in the window that pops up, tap on their username again
- there you'll see the option to send a friend request

The image loading thing tends to be a bit fraught, for me, on various platforms (phone/tablet/laptop). I don't know whether it's a function of network activity/system load, photo size, or something else . . . but there are times when a given photo refuses to load, but if I keep trying, it eventually works (even on the same device, or it will work on one device, but not another 🤷‍♀️).

You don't need to be on premium to load photos. I've had problems, premium or free, but they're weirdly intermittent.
