So I'm a BIG cardio fan. I even bought my fiance and I an elliptical for our apartment at the beginning of this month. But as the cruel fate of the world would have it, I just suffered a knee injury and am stuck on krutches and a knee immobilizer for the time being. Now I feel SO HELPLESS... exprescially since I was trying to lose weight befor my wedding in October. I was on the path to lose about 15 more pouds, but now I don't know how if I can't really do any cardio.
Any help? Tips to lose weight without legs? Motivation?

Don't need cardio for weight loss, just eat less than you were.0

Reign in that diet and do upper body exercises. Wishing you a speedy recovery!0

^^This. I am nursing an injured back for the next few weeks & am only doing rehab exercises. Because of that, I am eating less to make up for it. Just watch that diet, you can continue to lose weight.0 -

Hiya
me too - I got a major knee injury due to an idiot at a kettlebells class about 7 weeks ago who ran right behind me and took my leg out from under me while I was doing a backward lunge. It is hell - I feel for you.
" eat less"...hmmmfffpp true but kinda misses the point if you have been a regular exerciser eh!?
Upper body bike and seated upper body free weight work. You could youtube - 'seated exercise' and will find some Ok stuff amongst the crap!
Good luck - it isn't easy. How / what are your injuries? I got a dislocated and fractures kneecap (just small crack fractures), ligament and meniscus disk damage - nice!

I tore my mcl last year, grade 3. I just stuck to 1200 a day and I still lost weight.0

If your lower body is injured work your upper body.
Weight lifting, boxing or create a 30 minute circuit with chin ups, press ups, boxing routine etc0 -
I haven't been able to exercise a lot of the time I've been on mfp and have still lost weight by watching cals and macros. I'm sure there are a lot of exercises you can do if you get googling. Just take those strong disabled olympians as inspiration!0

Same position,
2nd degree tear in ankle (saying sprain doesn't give the daunting effect that i would like) just after using my heart rate monitor once0 -
I too purchased an elliptical here recently. I had foot surgery 3 weeks ago and was not allowed on my foot for more than 5 mins an hour the first 10 days and then it upped to 15 mins an hour as long as I was in the boot. The remaining 45 minutes my foot has to be over my heart. I have been very diligent about my calorie intake, which of course you know, but have just tried a number of different things. I tried laying on the floor with my foot up and doing a few weights. Didn't like that much. I tried sitting in a chair and fudging about how high my foot was and doing upper body. That has been a little better but not great. This week I called my local Pharmacy and asked if they have a wheelchair to loan and low and behold they did. I have been out, pushing myself around, and I'll tell you that is a pretty darn good upper body workout along with the freedom you feel getting out. My foot is only just above hip level (which is okay but not optimum according to the Dr.) My next step is the pool. As soon as I get the okay to get into the water I will begin doing my own version of water aerobics. This keeps the strain off your injury. You are probably getting more of a workout than you know using those crutches. Hang in there! You will make it just fine.0
