New and hoping I can do this

Hi My name is Jan. I"m 50 years old and have always been on the chunky side but now I"m just Fat Fat. Everyone around me all my friends and family are skinny can eat what ever they want and not gain a pound. In fact growing up my mom and sister had to over eat to keep weight on. I am a wife and mother of 6 and work full time. When I have time the last thing I want to do is think about working out or counting calories. I need some serious motivation and help. I need to lose 60 pounds. Thanks for listening

    Hi Jan:

Please feel free to friend me so that we can support each other. I am 45 and mom to one 7 year old boy. I'm working on losing about 25lbs one day at a time. I just joined MFP this past Tuesday and I really feel determined this time to do this.

Editing to add that you absolutely CAN do this.

Hi Jan, please add me. We are all here for support. I find it's brilliant and really keeps me going. I know it's difficult to find time but you can do small changes - they all make big difference!

It's counter-intuitive, but working out actually gives you more energy. Once you start getting fit, you actually start craving workout time. 49 year-old father of 6 here, work full-time and do 16.5 miles a week (HIIT) on an elliptical. That being being said, my wife has longer, harder days than me as a full-time homemaker.

Oh, and the only way to avoid having to take stock of your caloric intake is to start doing something like running up mountains. Diet trumps everything. You can lose weight w/o exercising, but you will feel better. Once you do lose weight, exercise keeps it off. There's a good chance the weight will come back if you don't.

Bottom line... eat less, move more, repeat.

You can do this...focus on your goal and take it one day at a time. Wishing you the best.
