Struggling to lose weight

Since February I've gained 10 kilos and have gone from 11st (70kg) to 12st 8lb (80kg). My mum was diagnosed with lung cancer in Feb and coronavirus made things worse. Not going to work ànd the gyms being shut really got me out of routine. The stress of my mum's cancer diagnosis and lock down really made me stop taking care of myself and I lapsed into bad habits of eating too much and not doing enough exercise. Last year I did so well losing 12kg. I felt in amazing shape.

Thankfully my mum is doing amazingly well and is currently NED (no evidence of disease) and is on the road to recovery. I feel like I want to start taking care of myself again. This past week and more I've stopped binge eating and have started exercising more regularly. I've started running, skipping and walking more often. I'm starting to enjoy exercise again and am getting my stamina back. I'm watching what I eat. I've barely lost any weight!!

Last week I had bad diarrhea for two days and didn't eat much but guess what? Didn't lose any weight either despite diarrhea! I weighed myself on Friday and I lost a feeble pound (went from 12st 8lb to 12st 7lb)! I weighed in again this evening and I'm 12st 9.8lb which is so annoying. In the morning I'll be down to 12st 8lb which is a pound gained so in theory I've not lost weight.

I feel so good in myself and so much better for eating healthy and exercising. Why is the weight not coming off?? I'm overweight for my BMI (I'm 172cm) so the weight should be coming off easily as I'm overweight. What is going on?? Do I have to eat like a rabbit to lose any weight?? I don't know if it's hormonal. I had the implant done last year and it didn't affect my weight esp not at the beginning. The weight I gained I take full responsibility for- I ate too much and barely did any exercise.

We need more information on your weight loss to give proper advice. Did you enter your stats and goals in MFP? How many calories have you been eating? And since when?

    Some general comments:
    - if it's only been a few weeks, you need to be more patient. Weight loss is rarely linear.
    - starting exercise could be causing water retention, masking fat loss on the scale, because your body isn't used to it yet
    - Why did you weigh yourself in the evening? That serves no purpose, just weigh yourself under the same circumstances in the morning.

If you want to weigh daily, go for it, but it should be at the same time each day. In the morning before breakfast ideally. There is 0 point to weighing in the evening. If you eat a lb of food for dinner and then go hop on the scale, you will be a lb heavier as your body hasn’t processed that food yet.

Don't undereat as your body will cling. That's why I've joined today. I cleaned up my eating but only lost 1kg over a month of good behaviour. Playing around with the tracker I realise that especially with adding so much exercise calories I was probs not eating enough.
