Too soon to run after flu?

My son brought home the flu from school last week and, lucky me, I came down with it on the weekend. Runny nose, fever and a cough. I’m feeling a lot better today and the cough has almost gone. Is it too soon to go for a run? I usually run about five kilometres in 25 minutes. I’m 54.

You can always go out and try, and slow down if necessary. I couldn't do much cardio for a week or so after the flu because it would trigger coughing. So I would just walk more until it went away.1

Yes, I think that you know your body best of all. You can always begin something and then stop when it no longer serves you. I also think that making space to care for yourself (no matter what that looks like -- it could be a run or snuggling down) is essential for reaching your goals.1
