This thread is for anyone who rides a bicycle ... or unicycle, tricycle, tandem, etc.

Or, are you just starting out and remembering how much fun you had biking when you were a kid? However you choose to push your pedal, you are welcome on this thread.
There's no set challenge across participants - this is a mixed-ability / mixed-experience / everyone welcome group.
Just pick your own target that you want to achieve this month, post that when you join the thread, and post updates throughout the month as you're working towards your target.
Given the current situation many of us will be cycling solo or indoors ... share your accomplishments with us.

UK gyms have reopened just as the weather has taken a nose-dive so I now have an indoor alternative for training.
Entered a 100km Audax as a last desperate attempt to get one organised event in this year but when the weather forecast deteriorated to temperatures of 1 - 4C with a high chance of sleet showers I abandoned the idea.
I like a challenge but not a punishment.
81 miles this week and only 262 miles to go for my annual mileage goal.0 -
FTP test for me today. I've been having a break from structured training for the last couple of months so it was down a bit, as expected, but only back to where I was in around June and in a much better position than this time last year so still in a decent place.1

I found a cycling group at last
My current programme is based on running for a charity event I need to complete though I prefer cycling. I took the reasonable weather to get a ride in along the coast. Still not used to inclines and the +500ft climb out of Hastings took it out of me. Just nice to get out though.1 -

Having Raynaud's has cost me a fair bit of cash for an extensive collection of gloves but almost cost me a lot of money for a new Garmin. Slipped out of my cold and numb fingers and fell on a tiled floor smashing the glass.
Fortunately a replacement screen looks quite easy to fit (according to YouTube anyway!) so I've ordered the parts to repair it myself. It's still working but I'll need to keep it dry.

With my part of England going into a higher level of COVID-19 restrictions gyms have closed again which means I won't be able to train indoors for the rest of the month. Getting close to my annual goal so hoping for some decent weather to allow me to get out on the bike and remain (relatively!) sane.0 -

December has been busy!!
Sun, 6/12/2020 - We held the annual ASH Dash Audax cycling event. It's 200 km with a lot of climbing! ASH stands for All Seven Hills and there might actually be eight. So we spent the weekend before that checking the route and the week doing the last minute organising, making sure the volunteers had what they needed and knew where to be, and so on. We had 22 riders and all of them finished.
The next weekend ... we had a significant medical appointment for my husband on the Friday which required quite a bit of prep on my part. Getting all the documentation together. After the previous weekend's adventures and then this medical appointment, I didn't feel like doing much but we did get out for a short ride.

Nice ride today but a little challenging in places because both of us have lost some fitness. However, I am very thankful that my husband and I are able to cycle together.

Regained a little in the rank on Black Lane! Just about threw up in the attempt! I'm now 7th/11 among the women who have ridden the road. Pretty sure I had dropped to 11th place.
It wasn't a brilliant attempt but not bad considering how out of shape I feel.

Beautiful day today ... drove up to the north coast of the island and did a lovely little bicycle ride there.
December 31
On this last day of December and last day of 2020, my husband and I decided to cycle at least 50 km. Actually, he wanted to cycle 53 km to reach a total of 1200 km for the year.
I planned out a route and off we went.
We knew that we'd be into the wind at first, but it was stronger than expected - 35 km/h gusting to 50 km/h!
We also knew that we'd be climbing for the first 10 km, but there's a lot of subtle climbing on apparently flat routes.
So it was rather challenging in places ... and easy in other places ... and generally more challenging as we went along because we're not in as good shape as we could be.
But we made it!
And our annual total is just over 1200 km.2 -
Ended December on 409 miles by squeezing in some short local rides in low temperatures.
Rode more miles in a year than ever, gained a noticable uptick in speed (reflected in a silly number of Strava PRs) but couldn't tick off the highlights of Century rides or rides abroad in this very strange year.
But I've got to be happy that I end 2020 fit and healthy.

No centuries for me either but I did ride abroad and it was my biggest mileage year ever (not the most time spent on the bike, but I've got faster )
