So i just started Insanity today and plan on following the nutrition guide. For the past several months i've been trying to lose weight, consuming between 1300-1500 calories per day. i exercise pretty regularly, nothing vigorous but i've basically been on and off the wagon a lot for the past few months. (i'm assuming thats why i havent lost weight) anyways, i can't even describe how excited i am to start insanity. however! i'm really nervous cuz the nutrition guide wants me to eat 1800 calories per day...that seems crazy! i will be eating very healthy & clean and plan on drinking shakeology once a day as a meal replacement, but still..i'm soooo worried that if i do this, i wont see the results i'm working for & won't lose fat. i'm 19 years old, 5'4 and weigh 146 pounds (i don't know if that info makes any difference, but just in case) thanks for any suggestions/advice!!

Listen, insanity is called insanity for a reason. The workouts are IMMENSE, I was eating 2400cals a day on it and still loosing weight. Follow the guide and if you're hungry and loosing weight very quickly there's no harm in upping it a bit more. Good luck!0

I finished Insanity and never even looked at the nutrition guide. You will burn around 300-600cals per workout in the first month (depending on your intensity of course). 400-800 in month two.
I was eating 1600cals and eating all my exercise cals back so around 2200. Lost 15lbs
My wife was eating 1400cals and eating all her exercise calories back so around 1800-2000. She lost 15lbs. She's 5'6 and weighed around 140lb at the time.
1800 sounds about right for you. Remember to just give it your all in your workouts. Besides weight loss you will see your body comp change for the better.
Good luck!0 -
1800 doesn't seem excessive. I was eating upwards of 3000 some days and still burning fat. You need a lot of fuel to have enough energy for Insanity. Those workout aren't playing around. Don't be afraid to eat. Your body needs the food, particularly during something as intense as Insanity.0

When doing that high intensity work out listen to your body. Just keep the foods nutrient dense and not junk and you will be fine.0

I do TDEE -20%, which puts me at 1800 a day. I don't eat exercise calories back. I'm doing pretty well.0
