Fitbit users that use the iOS app: can you check something for me?
Please set a custom max heartrate zone.
In the app go to: Account
Scroll down to Settings, Activity Wellness
Then chose Heart Health
Slide the Max Heartrate slider to the right and type in a half realistic number. Why not use 180 for the sake of it.
go Back
Return to this menu: is the maximum heartrate you just set still active or is it inactive again?

Also please report what Fitbit you have.

Just tried - It reverts back to the default every time. I think it will need raising as an issue with Fitbit :)

Thanks a lot angus. Shame that not more people joined in. Yeah, I see the same and contacted Fitbit. Who told me to restart my device. Ugh.

I'm not sure what benefit you'll actually realize if you manage to get it set. I had set mine (on the website - it stayed where I set it for years. Literally. I've been a member since 2015, and I just recently reset it to default.) but it didn't change the calorie burn of any exercise, and it didn't even affect the color of the heart rate chart generated when it auto-detected I went for a run. The whole run is "peak" no matter what I do. I promise you, if it was truly a "peak" heart rate, I would not be able to sustain that for 2 hours. Seriously.

Also, setting your max heart rate, and a custom zone are 2 different things.
I didn't see any benefit to the custom zone.
Since that's all in the app, I don't think it matters which device, but it has persisted with the Charge HR, Charge 2 and Charge 3. I bought the device for the heart rate tracking. It tracks. Zones don't seem to work.

True, the custom zone is useless. A custom maxHR is important for me. I did a run recently where I ran 28 minutes in the Peak zone according to the standard setting. If I set my custom maxHR I get a much more realistic picture, and get data I can compare. Mind you, when this functionality broke down once more while I on a hike I walked in Peak zone! That's just plain silly.
