Have any ladies experienced drastic changes to your menstrual cycle since dieting and losing weight and exercising? I am not always like clockwork, but I have been cramping more with my TOTM and this last period was heavier. Three days after my period stopped, I began spotting. Just a bit and not all day. Just sporadically. Its now five days past the last day of my last period and I was spotting again. What could be causing this?

    Pregnancy, contraceptives, being malnourished?

It could be due to your diet... but I started getting spotting between cycles and it turned out to be an ovarian cyst (not the common, harmless kind) and something else with the uterus lining. Had surgery to fix it and everything's fine now. It's best to get stuff like this checked out, even though the most likely explanation is that it's something to do with your diet and/or weight loss.

Definately go to the doctor - people can speculate all day here but your doctor can really tell you what you need to know :) Good luck

    You're clearly dying.

Weight gain/loss messes with your hormones and can definitely cause changes in your cycle. But there are many things that could be affecting your period, some are innocuous and some could be a big problem. See your doctor to find out.

Going to the doctor is a definitely a good idea but when I last saw mine she gave me some great advice. She told me that my horrible cramping may be helped by an increase in calcium. I temporarily started taking calcium supplements and that seemed to do the trick! I should probably buy more so that I'm not dying this month.. lol Definitely still see a gynecologist but also look and see if you're getting enough calcium.

Thanks everyone who gave advice and tips. I have lost 20 pounds in the last 3.5 months so maybe its just my body getting confused. I will call and make a check up appointment. Can't wait to see my doctors face when she ws I've lost have the weight I put on during my depression phase after injuring my hip and being unable to be active for nine months.
I have added a calcium supplement to my daily routine and have been on it for a while so I don't think that's it. I was hoping this would be a normal thing but I fear now that maybe my ovarian cysts are returning.
