Colon Health Question

Who here has ever done a colon cleanse? Everything I eat makes me feel sick and like I have to throw up. I just feel so full and bloated. And maybe a cleanse isn’t even the answer, please help me!

Think I'd be talking to my doctor rather than going for a colon cleanse.16

What kind of foods do you eat? If you feel bloated after eating foods, you have a reaction to one (or many) foods. It might not be an allergic reaction but a sensitivity or intolerance.
Also, eating foods in a certain order can cause bloating as well. If you ate steak and potatoes and then had a piece of cake afterwards, all that wheat and sugar could sit in your digestive system and ferment while the body tries to break down the steak. I'm not saying steak is bad (I eat steak almost everyday and feel better when I eat it along with a few ounces of liver) but the combination of foods we eat usually is the culprit.3 -
Definitely check with a doctor... a couple years ago, at the ripe old age of 34, I narrowly missed colon cancer - had a large and agressive growth. The doctor said it likely would have been less than a year before the cells changed over, we caught it just in time. The PA was dismissive of my symptoms because of my age, but I knew the changes I had been experiencing weren’t normal. Any sudden GI changes that aren’t short lived (like a stomach bug) are doc worthy IMO.12

Since the gut is an ecosystem with lots of residents--some with very symbiotic relationships and others in competition with each other for living space or certain nutrients-- it's entirely possible that you're eating something that one particular resident likes or doesn't like and that's what's causing your symptoms.
But restricting yourself to fruit juice or diuretic senna tea or lemon & vinegar water to "cleanse" your colon isn't going to fix it. "Colon cleansing" has been largely debunked by science-- there's no magic potion that will pull toxins out of your gut, or flush the body of impurities.
I concur with the "talk to your doctor" recommendation. It could be a mild food allergy, or it could be something serious.12 -
Talk to your doctor! My mom passed away from stage 4 colon cancer at the age of 54. Which means there were probably polyps in her early 40s or earlier. Don't take the chance.6

Talk to a doctor. A colon cleanse does nothing. Worst case it causes more problem in your colon as you might be getting rid of some of the good bacteria in there.5

I've had 2 colonoscopies which required a total GI cleanse b4 they were done and I am scheduled 2 get another 1 done next yr
Does that count? LOL!

Yay for coloscopies! not really2

Talk to your doctor. That could also be a sign of ovarian cancer and several other things not related to your colon.1

I had three polyps (1 the harmless kind, 2 precancerous). I was told I would have had colon cancer in a year and been gone in less than 2. The only reason they were caught is because I had been travelling and gotten sick, didn't get better, and they were trying to figure out what went wrong. I was only 27. Colons are serious business.
Don't do a cleanse
Do check to see how much fibre (and water) you're consuming
Do see your doctor4
