Working out from home

I think I’m ready to start adding exercise back in to my weight loss routine, but need some help. I’ve got an elliptical, but wanted to start strength training a bit. What equipment do you all prefer? Resistance bands? Free weights? Any websites or tips?

I prefer free weights, but depending on budget/space/availability, resistance bands might be a better option for you.
If you’ve never done strength training before and you can afford a session or two with a pt, I would recommend that.0 -
I wish I had an elliptical. I just bought a stepper machine, but it hasn't arrived yet. I don't have a lot of space. I have (and enjoy) kettlebells, dumbbells, slam ball, skipping rope, bands, yoga ball... What more does a girl need? (I also want a box, some dip bars, and a bench... haha)0

Some flight of stairs, some dumbbells, and a couple resistance bands should be good to start out with(:1

Progressive bodyweight routine is another option, especially if you're a strength training beginner, something like You Are Your Own Gym, Convict Conditioning or Nerd Fitness. Despite the thread title, there are some (more than just those, some free, with links) in here:
