What if I am eating less than my intended calorie goal? Is that good or bad?

50 calories less? Fine. Have 50 over some day. Average it out.
300 calories less? Could be a problem.
MFP would like to set you up on the perfect number of calories. But you’re an individual, so it’s hard. MFP does the best it can with averages, and it only knows what you tell it. So if you’re average and gave it all the right information, the problem with undereating is that you’re under fueling your body. You may need the energy from those extra calories, and you may feel it in a few days, or few weeks.
1000 calories less? Problem! Eat!
It’s hard to get the numbers right when you are just beginning, so just keep aiming for the target, and just keep learning.
Good luck!5 -
Eating less than your calorie goal once in awhile is not a big deal. But, consistently under eating is not a good idea.

Unfortunately, I started out trying to stay a little under 1200 and feel like I shot myself in the foot. 1200 was always the goal; I'm only 5 feet tall. My body got used to the low calories, and now If I eat more than 1300 these days, I start to gain again. I try to stay around 1275 most days. Don't eat less than you have to while you're still losing. Do yourself the favor!3
