Im looking for motivation that goals can be achieved without exercise. In may i had a stroke and am unable to excise like i used to.
I need to lose 28lb to get bmi down.
I know weight loss is about calories in/calories out but ive always done both and just need the success stories on calories only diet no exercise.

I've lost 35 lbs without exercising. It's all from staying within my calorie budget and trying to move more. I try not to sit as much and am doing more housework (especially since I feel so much better after losing weight). I'm sure it's mostly from calorie restriction though. After Thanksgiving, I hit a rough spot so I've just been maintaining all month. I'm ready to get back in the groove now. My biggest problem has been emotional eating and I've got a health coach that has really helped me through it.
Also, the first two weeks were hard but then my stomach shrunk so I wasn't as hungry. I try to eat the same healthy breakfast every day, something fairly healthy for lunch and dinner can go either way (healthy or not so healthy) but I try for moderation. I'm not really denying myself anything but I have to "make room" for splurges. I've also learned that I don't have to partake in every treat though. I'm getting to the point where my family will eat junk food and I eat something else. I think my tastes are changing with the exception of sweets. They are my kryptonite. 😥 I, personally, have benefitted from paying close attention to my thoughts and feelings and how that can feed into my choices. Then I discuss that with my health coach. I find that it's mostly reframing my thoughts about food and myself.2 -
Yes, you can. There were several inspiring threads with people in wheelchairs, or with severe mobility issues. All you need is a calorie deficit. In a way, it's easier, because it's hard to get a correct number on exercise calories, and most people overestimate their burn. Wishing you the best of luck.1

I'm one of those that has gained and lost 20 to 30 pounds ahhh about four times during my adult life. I was shocked when I lost my weight the fastest and most consistent when I did not exercise. True. There are many articles and those who study the exercise thing and say that exercise is imperative when you're maintaining. But it can actually work against you when you're trying to lose weight. I think people get more hungry or mentally think they can eat more and so they do.
So..there is losing weight... and getting fit (which means exercise). Many of us do both..but you can easily lose your weight until you're well enough to start an exercise program. Good luck to you.2 -
Good luck I do exercise because I have to as I have arthritis in my knees, hip and back so it keeps them flexible but I done do jogging etc but I think food, calories and portion size are the most important part.0

Suggestions to minimize the negatives of no exercise during weight loss.
1 - Keep the deficit, or rate of loss, reasonable for the amount to lose to healthy rate.
Unreasonable is a stress on the body, recovering from stroke is wrong time to add controllable stress.
Right now that would be 1 lb weekly, until 10-15 is left, then 1/2 lb weekly.
2 - Keep the amount of protein appropriate for your weight. Point 1 helps in this by having enough calories to work with.
0.9 g per lb per day.
It can be done, and it can be done with minimal negative effects.

I'm 34 pounds down in the last 5 months. The first three of those months was during warm weather and I would get out and walk 1-5 miles most days, with no other exercise. The last two months, it's gotten cold and I haven't even been walking. Still losing!1
