Christmas Habits

Do I need to say it! I can't stop overeating by 1000 calories and I literally can't get off the chair 😭
Any advice for shifting this Christmas attitude?

    What is important to you?
Why do you want to stop overeating?

Are you ok with the inevitable weight gain?

Sometimes when we get into a bad habit we have to reset with going back to WHY we are doing this.

For me... When I over eat and eat mostly crap foods... I feel sick. Physically ill. Bloated. Gross. Tired. I don't like that.

When I lift, I feel empowered, strong, capable, sexy. I do like that.

So focusing on WHY I want this helps me to make the choices to make that possible.

    So... What is your why?

The thing about falling hard off the wagon at the holidays is that we tend to let EVERYTHING go.

In the spirit of Christmas, I "accidentally" made a batch of double chocolate brownies. I cut and devoured a HUGE square while the pan was still warm.

Some things that helped me get back on track:

Forgiveness. Nobody's perfect. Not only is every day a brand new day, but every hour is a brand new hour. Overdoing it DURING the day doesn't mean you have to continue ALL day. Just stop eating for one hour... even if you have to use a kitchen timer! During a difficult day, keep using the timer. If nothing else, it will make you mindful of the choices you are making throughout the day. If you can't manage an hour, try 30 minutes - or 15.

Don't let a slip-up of over-eating stop you from doing other healthy things. On 'Brownie Day," I still had poached salmon for dinner and exercised... not my full work-out, but enough to keep the habit intact. I promised myself I'd do 5 minutes and ended up doing 20. Get up and do your best Beyonce impression to an upbeat pop song once every two hours.

As soon as you can, put the brakes on the sugar - even if you are still eating too many non-sugar calories to feel full. During the winter, eating hearty homemade stews, soups and chili really helps keep me full.

Do something nice for yourself that has nothing to do with diet and exercise. Give yourself a facial, take a long bath, give yourself a mani/pedi, exfoliate those elbows!

It's just a seasonal bump in the road. You got this!

Step out of yourself or your head and look objectively at the situation. You are in control. It is all about making one good decision after another. simple as that.

You there are moves on the chess board.

    1. Just stop eating foods off your plan and move forward right now.
    2. throw away any foods that are making you binge and are off your plan
    3. move more to compensate for past overeating. So..get off the chair..that's simple enough. Get active.
    4. Eat leaner for the next week. Eat fish instead of beef or chicken...skip carbs ...double triple the vegetables.

Take control back...and you'll be back on track.. and the holiday splurge weight will be gone. You don't want to lose ground.
