Struggle: I thought I was doing pretty good but a meal out and the weight jumped up. Trying not to be discouraged but at the same time, trying to rethink how to make those extra lbs go away.

Success: I feel committed this morning - my start of the week. I am going to go for short walks every day to get my metabolism up, lowered by calories because I'm not moving as much, and tracking very accurately - no guessing.

    Maintenance range: 75kg (+/- 2.5 kg)

    Weight lost: 86kg to 80 kg (January-August 2012); 85 kg to 69 kg (October 2014 - March 2016); 88kg to present weight (May 2020 - now)
maintained (i.e. was below 77.5 kg, and mostly below 75 kg) from February 2015-July 2017; was then put on a medication and gained 2 kg in a month; went on sabbatical (away from scales; lots of conference meals); hit (peri-)menopause and lost track of things except to note that I was steadily gaining and back to 85/86 kg.
Lost to 81 kg at Easter 2020 (top of normal bmi for me), but then gained back to 88 kg in April/May (Easter egg binge; lock down closed the pool...).
    Average weight October 2014 - September 2015: 75.72 kg
    Average weight October 2015 - September 2016: 72.33 kg
Average weight October 2016 - September 2017: 76.82 kg - monthly average within maintenance range (74.82 - 77.86 kg) for the first 10 months, then >79 kg in August and September
    Average weight October 2017 - March 2018: 80.90 kg
    April 2018-April 2020: no data
    Average weight 22 May - 31 December 2020: 80.83 kg

Average weight recorded for May 2020 (22.-31.5.2020): 87.15 kg
Average weight recorded for June: 85.31 kg
Average weight recorded for July: 83.12 kg
Average weight recorded for August: 81.07 kg
Average weight recorded for September: 79.59 kg
Average weight recorded for October: 77.81 kg
Average weight recorded for November: 76.67 kg
Average weight recorded for December: 75.93 kg

Weight / seven day rolling average:
    5 January: 75.7 kg (167 lb) / rolling 7-day average 76.04 kg
    12 January: 75.3 kg (166 lb) / rolling 7-day average 75.41 kg
    19 January: 76.9 kg (170 lb) / rolling 7-day average 76.14 kg
    26 January: 76.6 kg (169 lb) / rolling 7-day average 76.33 kg

Average weight recorded for January 2021 currently: 75.97 kg

I have been in my maintenance range since late October, and hit my goal weight of 75kg just after Christmas, rather to my surprise. I plan to maintain for a while at 75 kg, and then perhaps adjust my maintenance weight down to 72 kg (+/- 2.5 kg). However, given how long it took me to lose from 77.5 kg, I am wondering if this range is too large. Ideally I would like my rolling averages to be coming out as 75 kg +/- 0.5 kg, and I am still about 1kg off this at the moment.

Successes/struggles: A lot of fluctuations this week: down to 75.5 kg, back up to 76.6 kg... I have started exercising again and I think this is my body settling in to that. I seem to be maintaining at about 76 kg and need to keep reminding myself that this is 12 kg down from where I started last May, and probably 10 kg down from where I was this time last year. So I guess the good news is that I *am* maintaining, and at a weight that is well within my normal bmi range. I am not tracking food at present, but will start again in February. (Where did January go?!?)

In my experience, the last few pounds come off REALLY SLOW, and your experience seems the same. Also in my experience, fluctuations WAY larger than 0.5Kg are normal. I have two different ranges, an ideal and an absolute. My ideal range is about +/- 1.4Kg and absolute is +/-2.3Kg (I work in pounds). Even over short terms, I can fluctuate a whole heck of a lot. Yesterday I was up 1.4Kg and today I'm back down 0.9 of that. Others have very different experiences and can maintain within a very small range. Allegedly Fred Rogers weighed the exact same every day of his adult life. Maybe his scale was broken. You're experiencing fluctuations; don't let 'em bring you down. Give yourself a good margin of what you call success, and just be aware if things start to go awry. Yes, I kind of failed to do that, and am now working to get back into my absolute maintenance range, and I will.

Average weight recorded for December: 56.9kg
Average weight recorded for January 2021: 55.8kg

Weigh-in day for me is Friday

    Week of:
    January 1 - 57.6kg
    January 8 - 56.0kg
    January 15 - 55.6kg
    January 22 - 54.9kg
    January 29 - 55.0kg

Struggle/Success: I had a bad day on Thursday where I went off the rails eating. Perhaps this happened because I was restricting too much? Only 2 more days in the weight loss challenge and I"m in my desired zone (just) of 54-55kg and I'm happy with that. So ready to go back to just maintaining but good to know that I can start logging again and being more careful just in case it's necessary :-)

Success/Struggles: Still maintaining, and happy to be remain the at near 163 instead of 165. Struggle this week is that my fitbit is acting up and doesn't want to sync, which means that MFP show me over my calories for the day, even though I'm not. It's just psychological because I can see on the device what my daily burn is and eat accordingly, but I hate being in the "red".

How long in maintenance: Since April 2016 - but gained 10 kg March-May 2020 after massive trauma combined with COVID-19.
Maintenance weight range: 65-75 kg (not sure what’s the right answer - been up and down in there numerous times in my life, apart from going way over 2010-2015).
I’d like to lose a bit to get back to 70 kg, but I’m still happy at around 75 kg.

I’m experimenting with seeing how my satiety levels are in relation to the types of foods I eat. Trying to eat more whole foods, which I’ve been getting pretty good at, and less sugar, and it’s going quite well.

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: I've regained some motivation for my workouts, as my boyfriend is letting me borrow his barbell to test out for a few months. So far it's been about a week and I'm enjoying the variety of using it compared to dumbbells, which are what I normally use. I'm hoping that this will keep me motivated enough to put in more effort into my workouts than I've been doing over the past several months.

Hi! My name is Kristen. And I struggle to maintain my weight. I had an amazing 2020, weight maintenance wise, and I'm hoping to keep up with it in 2021.

January 17th: No Data - Vacation
January 24th: No Data - Vacation
    January 31: 151 (Trend: 150.9)

Successes/Struggles: Well, these past couple weeks have been eventful. With our new administration in the USA 'REALLY' wanting us to stay put, my Mom and I moved our Cancun vacation from late February to depart Jan. 16th and return before the new Covid-19 testing rules started. So what you see is a slight increase caused by a week at an all inclusive, then a week of really not wanting it to be reality!

For someone who gets joy and motivation from the ability to travel these new rules kinda suck. And now they are working out some way too that traveling domestically will come with restrictions. So it's the snowy backdrop of gray and cold for me until who knows when.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Challenges: I've kept up my steps, but my cardio sessions have slacked a bit. I had been running six days a week, but it's dropped to 4-5 days a week lately. There have been times when there's been a good reason for doing so, but I need to keep it from becoming a trend/habit.

Successes: My trendlines are stable (though with big daily variations - a couple of pizza/treat nights make for wild swings, as I've learned that higher salt intake has more effect on me.) I'm working on turning new year's resolutions to eat lower on the food chain into a habit with some success. I've enjoyed doing some bedtime yoga/stretching as I try to expand the things in my life that make me happier and healthier.

    Have a great week, everyone!
