Repeated injury, help please

Hi there, I seem to be having an issue with planks and/or push ups. I am halfway through 30ds, so in the middle of level 2 and I have injured a muscle in my neck 3 times now! The same one lol. I did level one of 30ds and I thought it was a bit easy, but still challenging, I used 5 lb weights. On level 2, I injured myself day 1, took a day off, did 2 days ok, then did it again, took yesterday off, then today, right away did it again. It's like I go to do the walkout push up and as soon as I start to put my weight onto my right arm the weight shoots up though my shoulder and pulls something in my neck. Same issue with push ups, but I can stop myself before it causes injury. Does that make sense? It's like at the base of my neck top of my shoulder up through the neck on the right side. So what's the deal? I did not want to take more time off, so I finished the workout and just favored my left side and did not have any issues on that side, so can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Am I just not strong enough to support myself? Any extra stretches or exercises I could do to avoid this injury in the future? I also do 45-60 minutes on an elliptical machine before I do the dvd workout, but at almost 2 months my weight has not moved. After reading some posts around on the forum, I increased my calorie level and I think that I may just need to work on building muscle and toning so I am really bummed I can't seem to get through the workout. Thank you for any help/advice.

Go see a chiropractor. If the pain is shooting down your arm, that could indicate some kind of pinched nerve or else a weak trap muscle.(I've had sore traps before from doing walkout pushups). If it's just the muscle, a few days off of trap stretching and rest should do the trick, but the chiro will know.
When you're better, focus on slowly building strength--such as rows, pushups, lat pulldowns. Try not to perform these exercises in a fatigued state---I wouldn't go back to doing 60 mins. of ellipticals (which could have been working your traps) followed by 30 minutes of JMBR, which was also hitting your traps with the walkout pushups.0
