Trying to drop 40-45 lbs this year

I’ve always been pretty active and fit. I exercise (mostly lift weights) some cardio and also do jiujitsu but last couple years I’ve gone from 205-245 and now my feet hurt when I’m on them for too long and it’s time. I’ve never really had to focus on the nutrition aspect of it. I could eat pizza and drink beer and work out and be fine. Now I could workout for 2 hours a day try to eat “relatively” healthy and I gain 2lbs overnight lol. I know the scale is difficult to determine when you lift but my muscle mass has not increased so I know it’s fat lol maybe being active in a community will help.

    Forty pounds. You can do it. That's less than a pound a week. The key will be keeping a close watch on how much you eat and how many calories you burn. The cardio is going to burn more calories, and lifting is going to help maintain muscles. I think you're starting on a reasonable approach.

    The nutrition aspect in and of itself isn't what you're after; it's calorie deficit.

    Have you thought about how you'll structure your approach? What are your calorie goals, and how are you measuring?

    I hear ya. Been gaining way too much weight lately. Started new year with goal to lose that weight and gain some muscle.
