New to My Fitness Pal

Hello!
Here I am, once again trying something “new”. I’ve tried WW, Noom, even weight loss surgery (now reversed).
I’m heavier then I have ever been (Covid ain’t helping anything, physical or mental).
I know the science, I know what I need to do. But I have a huge problem with self sabotage. Lack of will power, lack or support. I don’t know what do do.

Same. I'm new here too, but not to weight loss. I clearly remember my first diet journal that I kept the summer between my 6th and 7th grade. Looking back at pictures I don't understand why I thought back then that I was fat, or ugly, or any of the things I had convinced myself about myself.

I'm trading will power in for motivation, inspiration and planning. I've been reading up on the "before and after" journals and blogs to get inspired. I'm committing to logging my food and exercise and sending friend requests to people who seem like a good fit. I read the comments on my home page and interact with them, building a support network.

I think you made the right choice by signing up and reaching out. Keep making steps in the right direction and sooner or later you'll arrive where you want to be. Where do you want to be?

Self sabotage here too as biggest pitfall. In my journey of trying to figure out how to stay on track (biggest weakness is sweets) I've found protein coffee shakes in the morning make me feel more awake and energized than energy drinks. When I get a sweet tooth, I have found recipes for protein shakes that satisfy and quench whatever craving I have for the most part without the unnecessary hunger later. And then there was finding alternatives to soda.

As far as support, I've never truly felt I've had any. It's desire to feel good again and not always feel like crap.

Good luck! Just try to slowly get yourself in the right mindset and you have it in the bag!

    Welcome to MFP!

It's a good tool, and as you already realize, you are the only person that can use the tool to build the future you want to see. COVID has sure been an impediment to many people, me included.

What plans are you making to assure success using MFP? The approach is simple, but it's not easy. You have to be accountable to yourself and only yourself; you can do that.

There's a bunch of resources here. One I've been involved with is a supportive group called, "Lose One Pound a Week and Keep it Off." Give it a look if you like.

The Success Stories corner of this board has been amazing for keeping me motivated.

I look at all the before and after pictures and stories of people just like me, and I can hold out another day......

It came up that MFP is currently "broken," and you aren't able to join the group on your own.

If you want to join, post a message here, and I'll make sure you get an invitation. Then you just have to accept the invitation. I hope they fix this issue soon.
