There is no such thing as overtraining ! Truth is you just have f’ nnnnn sore legs! No options , get up and get after it ! Let’s go run these 17-20 miles and get after it , who cares if I have been on Christmas block leave, that I had cataract surgery December 9th, the fact I just had a newborn child and when she is pregnant the man is pregnant is as well; we know that saying; and i have not trained in the last 51 days ! Like I said it’s day 1 and I am back because I have the heart and courage throughout the pain and I’m about to face this misery in exchange for drive and motivation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're going to get disagrees on this and I'll explain why. Overtraining exists, injuries exist and they can be painful and lay you up for a long time. Better to start, or re-start with a bit of caution and gradually ramp up. People who drive themselves through pain have lived to regret it. This is not to rain on your parade, but use your head and get a long term plan in place. Good luck.

Yep ^ this - I have sorely regretted pushing myself through the pain of an existing injury, years ago, it can do permanent damage, so yes you can overtrain, but in a way yes the thing that held me back was me, because I messed up my long term ability by not resting when I should have.

I was working with a "trainer" who had me "push through the pain" to get my last reps in, ended up with a rotator cuff injury and couldn't lift anything overhead for almost 3 months. So yeah...I'm going to listen to my body now and when it's time to be done, it's time to be done.

I was pushing to swim faster and got "frozen shoulder". The pain was intense when I lifted my arm or tried to do any simple thing. It took me over 2 YEARS to get back to somewhat normal (happened when I was 60), I still get twinges after 5 years, but with constantly, correctly moving it, I'm good. So, yes, I agree with you, and the OP is asking for trouble down the line.

    Nah.

Li'l ol' lady is smarter than that.

Gonna stick with *rational* plans, make good progress, minimize injuries.

    I'm boring like that.

But you do you, hey? 😉

P.S. I just had cataract surgery, too - in November. Requires like one day off training, as long as no complications. (Not sure what kind of break vicarious pregnancy dictates: Not being male, I'm immune.) Holiday block leave is usually like 10 days, isn't it?

Curious: If so motivated, why no training in 51 days? 🤷‍♀️

I started breaking down on mile 10 , I did 17.8, but I wasn’t thinking about anything negative . I kept pushing and what kept me focused was the 34 degree temperature and the album by Ludovico Einaudi. I love this app and this group because everyone has perspectives and opinions that truly help and some don’t . This is a great way to get to one another , so as a fighter and a Soldier, you have to apply your efforts regardless of the conditions ; no excuses . I truly loved everyone’s feedback. I’m not experiencing delayed onset muscle soreness either ; glutamine and the magnesium took care of that.
